Well, this was originally supposed to be two separate chapters, but I looked over them before posting it & realized how short the first chapter was so I just combined the two :3 .

Chapter 4

I’m off the plane, and in the airport. I already miss Seattle! What kind of weather is this? It’s like, freaking 100 degrees here!

“Um. You okay?”

Oops. I got to stop thinking aloud. Why is Matt still here?

“We’re taking a shuttle to the school. That’s why I’m still here.”

Not again. He probably thinks I’m stupid now.

I need to stop making things awkward. Why does it happen to me all the time? Breathe in, breathe out.

“Do you know what time the shuttle gets here, Matt?”

“I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to get here by 10:00.”

I just want to go to bed already. Its only 7:00. I should’ve chosen a flight that landed in the afternoon, cause I’m pooped. Just my luck! There was a whole row of seats empty. I set my phone alarm for 9:30.

According to Matt, I passed out the second my head touched the seat. Wow, I must’ve been super tired. It usually takes me up to a few hours to go to sleep. I’m in the shuttle that the school sent for the students that were coming in from the airport. Apparently, Matt and I were the only ones that came on the same flight. The school is about an hour car ride from the airport. Since I don’t want to make the ride awkward, like I had done earlier on the plane, I went to sleep again.

“Jade, we’re here. Hello? Jaaaade?.”

*nonsense mumbling*

“Jade. We’re at the school. Wake up, now.”

“Oh, I’m so sorry. I forgot I wasn’t at home.”

“Whatever. It’s fine.”

Wow that was super embarrassing. I totally forgot that I was even on the other side of the country. I might as well look around since I’m already up.

Wow. This is crazy. No way. What in the world. What. Is. Happening.

“You okay?” Matt looked puzzled.

Darn. Thinking out loud again.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

*Later That Day*

This campus was like heaven on earth. There was everything here. What caught my eye was the huge gazebo in the middle of the campus. The girl’s dorm was like a 5 star hotel. It was humongous. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a building that big. The guy’s dorm was similar to ours, but it was layered out a little differently. They were located on opposite sides of the campus for obvious reasons. The cafeteria looked like a 5 star restaurant.  There is a gazebo that’s in the exact center of campus. It is a perfect circle and there were pretty flowers all around it. The actual school building is really big. It was 3 stories high! That must be a pain! Matt told me that the school building has elevators and escalators in them. Pretty sweet!

“So… what do we do now?” I ask.

“Here, just follow me. We have to get to the administration building to get registered and to make sure the school knows that we are already here and so we can our room numbers and keys.”

Thank God for people who know what they’re doing. As I’m walking to the admin building, everything catches my eye. I notice a few other people are already on campus as well. I see one girl who is quite tall, dark skinned, and has very curly hair. She seemed to have already found a few friends. I walk up to them and introduce myself, totally ditching Matt behind.

“Hey, I’m Jade! I’m from Seattle.”

“I’m Sheyanna and I think he’s hot.”

I turn around and look at who she is pointing at. I freeze. She’s pointing at Matt. Um. Awkward much?

“Oh. That’s Matt, we were on the same flight while coming down here.”

“Oh. Whatever.”

She leaves me with two other girls. One looks Hispanic, and she has really pretty long curly hair. The other girl is quite pale, and has a very nice sense of fashion. The one with curls speaks up first.

“Hey, I’m Adela. I’m from New York.”

“Wow! I’ve always wanted to visit New York. That’s really cool.”

“I’m Annika, and I’m from California. Did you just get here?”

“Yeah, I just got in a few hours ago. Matt and I took a shuttle here. What about you?”

Annika has her mouth open, along with Adela.

“We’ve been here for a week now! I can’t believe you just got in.”

Annika’s reaction is hilarious. I think I’ll get along with her easily. Adela breaks the awkward silence barrier.

“So, have you seen your room yet? Annika and I are already done unpacking and rearranging our rooms. We could help you with yours if you want.”

“Wow that would help a lot! Thanks so much.”

As I’m heading to the dorm, I have a burst of happiness wash through me. Maybe staying here won’t be as bad as I thought it would be.

Authors Note:

Things are going to be pretty interesting in the next few chapters and I'm excited to put them up! The more comments that are left under this, the sooner I'll put them up. This will be the last update for a while I guess.
