"hi. small today."

"how am i not surprised to see your face here?" he joked with a smile.

"well, i do come here nearly every day."

"yeah, why is that?" he asked as he was cutting up the fruit.

the boy shrugged, like usual. "just because. i just like smoothie king."

"who doesn't?"

as he handed the boy his smoothie, he noticed two boys walk inside the store holding hands. he had never seen them before, but they sure looked like a cute couple.

"welcome! welcome! what would you two love birds like today?"

the boy with mint hair turned around while taking a sip of his smoothie, and he and the two people stared at each other in silence.

he then quickly walked out past them, feeling their eyes following as he did so.

the cashier thought it was strange, but didn't question it.

one of the boys cleared his throat. he had orange hair. "yes, we would like one large, uh, what's it called-"

"strawberry-kiwi breeze," his boyfriend finished for him with a smile.

"ah yes, good choice. that will be $8.49."

he was handed the money and started to put together the smoothie, eavesdropping on their conversation in the background.

"was that?"

"yeah it was him."

"does that loser usually come here?"

loser?

but he seems nice..

"probably. i always see him walking to the plaza alone after school anyway."

one of the boys let out a rude chuckle. "alone. how unsurprising. he's pathetic."

"whatever. it doesn't matter."

hearing this conversation made his blood boil. they sounded so judgmental of the boy who orders the same thing every day. he wondered what went down between the three of them.

he put the lid on the cup, and handed it to the two boys with a smile, but it wasn't genuine.

the two boys returned their smiles and said their thanks, walking out of the store side by side.

as he cleaned up the counters and got ready to leave, he couldn't help but wonder who exactly the mint haired boy was.
