Going to work the next day was nerve-wracking. Everything had happened really fast, and now I'd be working around cameras and creating my first official baby that was all my own. The guys promised to be there if I needed anything, and of course, Eugene would be on set when we were at the office in case anything went wrong.
We started filming the introduction, all four of us talking about how long we'd been vegetarian, and how it could be hard at times to go out with friends for food and not have a whole lot of options, but not wanting to drag them to vegetarian/vegan restaurants. I explained the four places we'd be going and then closed out the intro.
We headed out to get the food, bringing along two camera guys with much smaller cameras to get some better shots, and got the go-pros that would go in the car since Starbucks would be an in-the-car thing, as well as wanting to be able to talk about stuff between places.
It was almost the end of the day by the time we finally got back to the office and had to film the outro. I thanked everyone for being involved and got the footage so I could take it back to my desk and edit it.
I started to import all the material and pulled up our video editor, pulling on my headphones to get to work.
New Chat: Eugene Y
Eugene Y: How'd it go?
Me: Smoother than I imagined for my first time. Got stuck in traffic which was annoying :/
Eugene Y: Gotta love LA Traffic.
Eugene Y: Wanna grab drinks to celebrate?Me: That ended well last time ;P
Me: I appreciate the offer, but think I'm gonna stay here for a bit and edit.Eugene Y: I liked the way it ended last time :P but okay, just don't stress yourself out too much. You have a couple of days until your deadline and editing is all that's left.
I glanced up at him and flushed as I read the first part. Was he just saying he liked the physical part or was he starting to admit to liking me more? He just smirked playfully back, and I rolled my eyes.
Me: Don't worry, unless I really get in a groove and don't want to stop, you won't come in and find me having pulled an all-nighter.
Eugene Y: You're so cute.
I could sense the sarcasm coming through my screen and I glanced up at him again, shaking my head. He just blew a kiss back, and I tried not to flush again.
I closed the chat and went back to editing, figuring he'd head out after that. A few minutes later I felt a tap on my shoulder and paused the video, pulling my headphones off and turned around, seeing he was still there.
"I'm Facetiming you at midnight, if you're still here, I'm coming and dragging you out," he teased.
"What if I don't answer and pretend I'm at home asleep?" I teased back with a smirk.
"I know you'd answer my call, even if you were asleep," he joked with a playful grin.
Once again, I rolled my eyes at him - something I did frequently. "Now I know why you've got such big hair. It's to cover up your big head," I taunted, elbowing him. "I'll answer, and I'll be at home in bed. Now go, let me get what work I can for a bit," I told him.
"Yes, ma'am," he answered, leaning down to kiss my head. "Have fun," he said, before heading out. I could tell my cheeks were red again and tried to push it off enough to do some work.
Okay, so technically when he called I was on my way home and even had my phone in its holder on my dash so he could see I was driving. It took a bit to find a good spot to pause at, and I was almost halfway done. We said our goodnights once I pulled into my driveway, and I went up to get some much-needed sleep.
The next few days was a lot of editing, perfecting things, making sure it was as good as it could be and getting the approval from Chantel and Eugene before sending it off to our boss for final approval. It was Friday, and I couldn't be more grateful for the weekend.
New Chat
Eugene Y: No excuses now. Drinks tonight?
Me: Just you and me?
He hadn't used the Try Guys group chat but messaged me personally.
Eugene Y: Yep. Aside from the occasional coffee before work or food after, we don't hang out much outside the office alone. Figured it was time for a change.
Me: Eugene...
Me: Is this a date?I nervously checked some emails while I waited for him to reply, and when I didn't see the IM ping, I glanced up to see what he was doing and didn't see him at his desk. Great time to take a break, Eugene. Leave me hanging.
I was going to go back to emails when I heard someone's voice next to me. "I'd like it to be a date." I knew the voice well enough, glancing up and seeing why he hadn't been at his desk. "I didn't want to go into the official date thing over IM," he explained.
Well, at least there was that. But at least over IM, I could hide the fact my cheeks were bright red. It had been about a week since we decided to let the walls down, and we really did have fun, and I could really see myself liking him. There was still a lot of nerves to let those walls down, afraid of getting hurt again, but I'd trusted him with other pieces of my heart, surely I could do a date?
He almost seemed... nervous as he watched me ponder in my own head. It was kind of cute.
"Pick me up at eight," I said with a small smirk, letting that be my answer.
He grinned in response. "I won't be late," he promised, before going back to work.
