Surprises.

I was so happy when I found they did a video showing the process of finding out, and telling the others. I knew I wanted to do a chapter, and this just made it easier to write. I swear I'll get more consistent with posting once I get to the point where I can write the stuff from their new channel. Just doing the process of getting there is slow on me and my inspiration.

It was a long few weeks after that. They were filming a dozen things for Buzzfeed while having to go in and out of meetings to get the legal transfer of the "Try Guys" trademark to them. I was diving into my own work, while also trying to help them with anything I could. the more they talked about it, the less I was wanting to wait to leave, though. Just something about the excitement and the inspiration the guys were talking about, and the things they wanted to talk about, and film, it was clear their videos were going to do great. Being a part of it would be special. It was something I had a lot of time to think about while they were filming in Alaska, which was hard enough on its own. I'd practically jumped on Eugene when he'd come back, and there was a lot of time in bed after that. It was the first time we were actually away from each other, sue me.

I planned to talk to Eugene about it at lunch alone, but Ned had asked us all to join him. So we got our food and headed down to one of the tables. We talked about work, how it was going for them to get their own channel, how things in Alaska were, and then Ned asked if we could do a happy birthday video for his cousin Sarah. I personally had never heard of her but wasn't sure if Ned even knew at my of cousins names.

We called out various ways of saying happy birthday, that we wished she had a great birthday and all that usual stuff.

"Also, my wife is pregnant..." Ned slipped out at the end.

All our jaws dropped, and we stared at him. "What?" Zach said.

"What?" Keith echoed.

"Are you fucking serious?" Eugene asked. Meanwhile, I was sitting there, speechless.

"I don't even have a cousin named Sarah," Ned admitted, grinning. Zach and Keith bounced up to give him a hug and I followed. Eugene, in all his hug hating glory, stayed seated but equally surprised.

"Wait, is it in you right now?" he asked, jokingly.

"It's not in him, it's in Ariel," Keith informed him, making us all laugh. We all sat down, including Ned.

"I'm not surprised exactly, but I'm elated," Zach said. We knew they had been trying, despite the fact they were also trying to start up their own business, but we just figured stuff hadn't happened yet, and here it was.

"I, of course, am a very worrisome person, so whatever we can do to make the process good for Y'all..." Keith offered.

"You know, I was so surprised I thought it was in your body," Eugene said, hands on his head as he still tried to process the news.

"How far along is she?" I asked, knowing she couldn't be very far along, or at least not to the point of showing. We all saw her recently, and she didn't look much different.

"She's actually 20 weeks. She's just gotten good at hiding it and is pretty small right now. So, we're halfway done," he said, the smile never leaving his lips. It was obvious that Ned was the perfect husband and parent. Picture perfect. He loved his wife so much, and they had such a healthy marriage, and he'd love that baby with all his soul.

"Baby Tryceratops!" Keith chimed, and we laughed. I considered talking to them all as a group about leaving when they did but didn't want to take the light off Ned's news. Lunch was filled with a lot of baby talk and talking about who would babysit, what we could do, and made jokes at Eugene's expense for the fact he didn't like babies.
