PERSONAL BACKGROUND: Geun Areum was born in Suwon, South Korea to University Professor, Geun Sungjin and Doctor, Geun Somin. Her mother is Indonesian, while her father is Korean. She was born 9 minutes before her brother Hakyeon. At school, she was well known and had many friends. At the age of 10, she auditioned at JYP Entertainment, but failed to get in. A year later she auditioned again and made it in. She was a trainee at JYP for 3 years, until leaving the company to focus on her studies. When she was 15 she auditioned at Brand New Music and got accepted.

→ Her brother Hakyeon is a trainee at Cube Entertainment and was a contestant on Produce 101 Season 2, along with fellow trainees Guanlin and Seonho. He made it to the final 20, but didn't make it to the final debut line-up.

→ She's a fan of BTS, Seventeen, Astro and Day6.

→ Was part of a Gymastics team when she was younger. She competed in Gymnastics competitions and won some awards.

→ She sometimes cracks her bones, such as her neck and knuckles. People sometimes get freaked out whenever she does this.
