Lily

Lily Evans watched as a red burst of light shot up into the night sky and exploded in to millions of red and gold sparks which together formed the shape of an enormous lion. The crowd of Gryffindors chorused an 'oooo' and erupted in applause.

"These are amazing," she said, turning round to James and Sirius who both gave her proud smirks.

"Why thank you Lily," Sirius replied and James rolled his eyes.

"Mate, we both know that I did most of the work," he bragged, running a hand through his soft-looking hair and watching Lily who laughed.

She turned back to watch the fireworks, still filled with the excitement of her house winning the game. She stayed watching the fireworks for another twenty minutes, occasionally pointing out her favourites to Alice and congratulating the Quidditch team.

The air soon became cold though and Lily wished she had worn something warmer than her thin cardigan. She tried to ignore the chill and concentrate on the wonderful display but her teeth started chattering and she let out a shiver.

A moment later, she felt a warm soft material being draped around her and she pulled it from her shoulders to see a large red hoodie with the name 'Potter' and the number 6 printed in gold on the back. She turned around in surprise and looked up at James who was watching her with a small smile gracing his lips.

She mouthed a 'thank you' and pulled the hoodie on, instantly feeling its warmth and comfort. James' smile grew wider and she couldn't tell if it was just the light from the fireworks but she could've sworn she saw his cheeks go a little pink.

"Come on Lil, we're going back to the common room to warm up," Mary said tugging Lily away from James.

A while later, they were all sat round the crackling fire in the Gryffindor common room, laughing and chatting and recreating the best moment from the match.

"Did you see Hawthorne's face when I got the Quaffle off him?" said James, who was sitting next to a laughing Lily.

"Best moment by far was when Crabbe got a bludger to his face, he's lucky it only nicked him but his face was priceless," commented Sirius amused.

"I've got to congratulate Janet for that one," James said, referring to the Gryffindor Beater.

"You all did amazing," said Lily and he smiled back at her, running a hand through his hair. He stared at her for a moment and in the light of the fire, Lily noticed that James' hazel eyes looked almost gold.

Sirius let out an obnoxiously loud yawn and she tore her eyes away to watch the dancing flames of the fire. She was feeling a little sleepy herself and her eyelids were starting to droop. In her exhausted state, her head dropped against the nearest comfiest object and she snuggled against it before blacking out.

Harsh winds rustling trees
Rattling windows echoing
Quiet footsteps against stone
The feeling of movement yet she wasn't moving herself

Awake, yet with her eyes still closed, Lily tried to work out her surroundings. She was ascending, curled up against something hard but soft at the same time. It was warm and she moved her head to snuggle closer into it.

Then she became aware of the smell of aftershave and immediately opened her eyes.

Through the darkness, she could make out the outline of messy hair and glasses. In her groggy state she didn't know who it was.
But then they passed a window and a stream of silver moonlight lit up the strong jaw, the soft but determined mouth and those hazel eyes she knew too well.

"James?" She croaked and her carrier jumped slightly and glanced down at her.
"Hey," he said softly before opening a door and placing her on a comfy bed (though not as comfy as where she was before, she admitted).

He then took a duvet and laid it over her, wearing a small, content smile.

"Good night Lily," he whispered and, taking a blanket from beside the bed, walked over to the door.

"Goodnight James," she whispered back, smiling into her pillow. She watched him open the door and start descending the stairs.

The stairs!

How did he manage to get up here when everyone knew a boy couldn't walk the girl's stairs?

Suddenly a deep snore broke the quiet of the room and she startled- none of the girls in her dorm snored.

Then something gold caught her eye and she turned her head, seeing a gold frame on a bedside table. In it was a picture of James, Sirius, Remus and Peter.

She was in the boy's dormitory.

But there wasn't a spare bed there?

She remembered James heading down with a blanket.

Oh.
