"Hey, are you OK?" Fitz was propped up on his elbow next to her in bed. His dark hair was falling into his trademark teal eyes, and he tossed his head impatiently. "You were crying. What's wrong?"

I know your imagination can be strong sometimes, but don't forget- I'm your anchor. We're cognates. We're stronger together, he transmitted.

"I know," Sophie muttered. She looked down, wiping tears off her face. "It was just a stupid dream. I'm fine, really. It's just... it's hard to forget. All the crazy, scary impossible things that have happened. It's been almost 2 years since... well, you know."

He did know. Fitz was the only one who knew the whole story. Every last detail was his as much as it was hers, because she trusted him, and he trusted her.

Sophie blushed a little as her foggy brain finally realized the somewhat intimate position they were in, with her curled into Fitz's side. She attempted to roll, but Fitz stopped by grabbing her arm.

"Wait, Sophie I-" his sentence was interrupted by a startled grunt as Sophie's momentum pulled him along, rolling both of them. It was his turn to blush, as he was now laying on top of Sophie, his weight propped up on his elbows so the entire length of their bodies were touching. Sophie was sure she was firetruck red, and Fitz looked pink too.

"Sophie I- can I kiss you?" The question was so sudden it took her a minute to process it.

"W-What? I um, I-I guess, uh, y-yeah," Sophie stuttered.

Fitz grinned bashfully, and Sophie's hands seemed to move up his body and curl around his neck of their own accord. He traced around her eyes with the tips of his fingers, before curling them through her hair. He didn't say anything else, just leaned down and brushed his lips over hers. Sophie pushed up, clinging to him, running her fingers through his hair like she'd always longed to. Then Fitz frowned.

"Sophie, are you ok?"

"What? Yeah, I-I'm fine-"

"Sophie wake up"

"Huh? Fitz, I don't-"

"Wake up." He was shaking her gently. Sophie opened her eyes to see Fitz above her (almost exactly like he was in her dream), looking slightly flustered. When he saw her open his eyes, he sat up and scratched the back of his neck with his right arm, looking down.

"I didn't realize..." he began, but Sophie was slightly more confused.

"Wait, was that a dream?" Sophie sat up, then turned bright red when she realized why Fitz looked so flustered. "Did you see my dream!?" Sophie asked slightly alarmed. She covered her face with her arms when he nodded. "Oh my god, I'm going to die of embarrassment. I'm so sorry!"

"No, I'm the one who should be sorry! I was the one who looked at your dream without your permission! I was just worried since you were moving around a lot and you were gasping for air."

Sophie was sure her face was burning brighter than the sun. The boy she'd been crushing on for nearly two years had just seen a dream -her dream- in which they were kissing. Even though they'd confessed having feelings for eachother, nothing remotely like her dream had even happened yet, and he'd seen her dreaming about it! Of course, she couldn't control her dreams, but that was still so embarrassing!

Fitz pulled her into his lap so she was straddling him while sitting and held her to him. "I couldn't wake you, so I was checking your dream to make sure it wasn't bad. So when I saw us talking, and then kissing, I realized I should look away, but I couldn't. Then I was thinking... well, I mean..." He buried his head into her neck and squeezed her closer in his arms.

I mean, we could always do that in real life.
