Cleric Edan x Archer!reader
Just one mission.
That's all it takes for our paths to cross.
We met back in Calderock Village on our mission chasing the Black Dragon. We fought together ever since, along with Angelica and Xian. Every time I feel like I was at my limit, he was always there to heal me up; both my flesh and soul.
We went to Saint Haven together. Even so, he never left me. Even when we didn't go to the same place together or when I was corrupted with Black Dragon's blood, he would always find a way to meet me, whatever the circumstances might be. He said he never wanted to leave me, to leave such a beautiful fate called (Y/N). That's what he always told me, over and over. We were the perfect colours of threads, knitting our destiny together.
That's it, until my Telezia called me. I was chosen as the candidate of the next queen, there's no way I'd refuse on being it, it had been my Telezia from the moment I stepped into this world. While he was called by the Royal Castle to fight the Black Dragon. It was such a dreadful occurrence, everything could happen and we were not ready for that. We promised to spend our last moment before the battle to the best we could.
"Edan, we will meet again, right?" we were on a rooftop, staring at the night sky full of stars.
"What are you saying, (Y/N)? Of course we will," he said as he closed his eyes.
"But... if I'm chosen to be the next queen, it won't be easy for me to leave Anu Arendel," I said, as I saw him opening his eyes once again and looked into my eyes.
"Then I'll live there. I don't mind even if I must live inside a cave or something," he chuckled humorlessly and sat up. "As long as I can be with you," he whispered as a bitter smile plastered on his face as he stared down at his lap.
"Then, you must definitely come back!" I sat up and hold his hand as I looked sternly right into his eyes. "I want YOU to come back and tell me the story of when you're fighting bravely on the battlefield."
We stared at each other for a moment as the night breeze blew gently before he answered.
"Of course, your majesty," another bitter smile with a forced attempt of playfulness.
I frowned a little at the last part, he often teased me about that. Though a little part of me silently hoped that it wouldn't end.
"Promise?" I held out my pinky on the hand that's not holding his.
"I promise," he entangled it with his. We stayed in that position for a while before I continued.
"Now that you've promised to come back, so don't say goodbye."
"Then I won't say it," he smiled a sincere smile.
We spent the rest of the night, holding each other's hand and staring at the stars in the sky. That was our last night before the preparation for his battle.
And with that, the time passed by. The battle ended while I was still trying to solve the chaos at Anu Arendel. The news said that we achieved victory, yet I haven't met Edan. Nevertheless, not even once had I lost hope in him.
However, there is an end to everything.
The day that I dread the most finally came. A soldier from Royal Castle came to me and gave me a letter. It didn't look like an official letter from the castle and anxiety started to take over me. I hastily opened it.
