Little Geraint x Reader
Reader's POV
"Hey, (Y/N)! You have to help me kill Veskuld! You were Argenta's friend, right? You will avenge her, won't you?" The young Geraint was tugging my sleeve and shouting at me like I was at the end of the continent.
"I've told you that Veskuld is not our enemy. Of course I was Argenta's friend, though she always said that she didn't categorize me as her friend, but still I won't take revenge from Veskuld." I couldn't feel his tugging anymore.
We were looking for Feder at that time. Pope Terramai told me to search around the Red Dragon's Nest that had been abandoned long time ago. So I took 'little' Geraint with me and went to the place that Terramai had shown me.
But what we found was neither Feder nor his followers. There were Rubinart's books on the floor.
"Wow, the Red Dragon sure has a talent for drawing. These drawings are so amazing," I mumbled but Geraint's ears still could catch them.
"There are a lot of books here. I remember that Argenta actually didn't like it when I read one of those human's books," Geraint said as he looked at the book that I held. "She didn't prohibit me to read them but I know she didn't like it."
"Really? You were usually get scolded by her, weren't you?" I gave him my mischievous smirk after reminding him he was being a bad boy. Geraint puffed his cheeks and looked away from me.
"I am always a good boy and I didn't get scolded by Argenta that often," he said as he was avoiding to meet my eyes. "Well, except for that time when I drank all her wine without telling her." He was talking to himself with a small voice, though I still could hear his voice because I was standing right beside him. "Bu-but I always did what Argenta told me to do. For example... uh..."
I giggled as he was thinking really hard to prove that he was nice boy. He took a very long time. Even after I finished reading half of the Red Dragon's book, he was still thinking and mumbling to himself.
"Ah! For example, I didn't talk to anybody in Anu Arendel because Argenta said that it would be a burden if I talked to them. I wonder why she said something like that."
Okay.. That statement answered one of my questions. No wonder Elf Elder said that Geraint was being a good and quiet boy. Well, as you can see he was actually an irritaing boy that couldn't sift his words.
After we finished reading the book, we began to search the next one around that place. "(Y/N), I could smell the Red Dragon's odor that was coming from the previous book. I think the second one is across this corridor," he said as we walked in the corridor and looked around to find the book. "I'm so talented, aren't I?" As I heard him said that, I could feel that his nose was began to grow longer. I mean, he wanted to be praised, right?
"Yeah, you're a very talented dragon, oh Glorious Geraint," I said sarcastically.

I was fighting some monsters, while Geraint was attacking the others on a different corner. I knew it was easy opponents for him and I didn't need to bother his fight. But still even without my brain's permission, my head turned around to look at Geraint. When I saw neither Geraint nor the monsters, I felt that a cold metal was touching my neck. In the next second, I saw red liquid and it splattered to my face.
"Are you okay, (Y/N)?" Geraint asked as I heard a 'thump' in front of me. The monster's corpse.
"Ye-yeah. I'm okay." I needed some time to recover from my shock. "Thank you."
"Don't be absent-minded when you're in the battle field. You're the one who taught me about that." Geraint put both of his hands on his waist. I made a sad laugh. "Now I know why the old me died to protect you."
"Uh.. I'm sorry." My heart hurt when those words came out. I couldn't see his eyes so I kept staring at the ground as I walked.
It was a long silence. I walked on the front and still made a blue face.
"...(Y/N), what was my old self like?" Geraint asked me with curiosity, yet carefully.
My eyes grew bigger. Suddenly I grabbed his shoulders with both of my hands "Huh? What had happened to you, Geraint? Were you eating something weird? You need to throw it out of your mouth, you know." I shook him as he swang back and forward.
He slapped my hands out from his shoulders and shouted at me. "Ugh!! You stupid (Y/N)! Just pretend you didn't hear anything. I regret asking you about that."
I laughed loudly, even until my stomach felt hurt and my eyes began to water. He sulked and looked irritated as he walked passed me so I couldn't see his face. What a kid.
"He was more handsome than you, and of course he was nicer. Oh, he's also really mature. He really loved human and always wanted to believe in them," As I answered his question, some old memories began to return to my brain. Even though I couldn't see Geraint's face, I knew he was listening to me and making such a blue face.
"How did you feel when my old self died?" Geraint asked with a small voice. Maybe he hoped I didn't hear that because the answer would make me or him sad. Even though dragons always said that they don't understand feelings that we—humans—felt, but I still thought that they did feel emotions.
"Of course I was really sad. I blamed myself for being weak. I couldn't help him. Everybody said I am a hero, but I am not. What kind of hero that couldn't save her own friend. What a pathetic human I am," I said with a sorrow voice.
"(Y/N)..." I stopped my step when I saw Geraint stood in front of me, staring intensely.
"Hmm?" I tilted my head a little bit.
"Are you sure you want to take me with you? Like what Argenta and Veskuld said, I'm weak and incomplete. And you said that I'm not as nice as I was before. I might be a burden to you." His face looked sad to me.
So I patted his head gently. "It's not about you being weak or nice. It's because you are Geraint and that makes me want to stay with you. You don't need to compare yourself with the old one. You're you and it won't change. After all, I've promised to Argenta to look after you, so you're my responsibility now. And don't think that you're weak. You've just saved my life, right? So don't make such a face in front of me." After I finished my sentence, I pulled Geraint into my hug.
"Wha–don't touch me like that, you stupid human!" Geraint shrieked and pushed me away so he could free himself from my embrace. I giggled when I saw a red tint on his face. "I-If you say so, than you have to make a promise with me!"
"Huh? What promise?"
"I don't want you to die, so promise me you'll always be by my side! Promise me!" I heard Geraint's voice clearly.
As I heard him said that, my sweat dropped. "Uh... I think it's a bit hard to make such a promise," I said with a slight voice. I could see Geraint made a sad expression after I said it. I felt really guilty. "Okay, okay! It is a tough promise but I'll manage it somehow, but don't let your hope flies too high, do you hear me?"
The eyes that was ready to spill some tears were changed into a bright and happy ones. The smile in his face began to grow.
From that day I began to think. I wanted to protect that smile. It was not about my obligation or my promise to Argenta. My heart shouted that I should protect that innocent child no matter what happened.
And my brain did not disagree with that opinion.
