Rubinart x Elf!reader

Fate is such a cruel thing sometimes.

It writes down painful things for you and your only option is to read it.

The reflection of the silver crescent was clear on the tranquil lake, the cold breeze was whispering lullabies to the trees, and the stars were shining ever so gently like they were trying to hypnotize whoever that was staring at them. The night was filled with serenity, yet it never let me be part of it. I was sitting beside the lake, accompanied by my own thoughts and mostly, memories of her.

How long had it been? 10 years? 13 years? Maybe 20? Or even more than that? To be honest I'd lost count of it. I'd gone astray in my own grief and despair while the world was still spinning like it should. Had not I lived long enough to let that one slip? Or maybe I hadn't witnessed enough death to actually felt nothing about hers? No, I didn't believe that was the case though. Why she HAD to be so special? To me, for the very least. To someone that's not a human nor an elf; someone that had nothing to do with affection and especially romance, yet she managed to caught my heart and made me feel human.

Meriendel.

She made me a broken-hearted love-struck dragon; and let me tell you, it was one thing. But having to watch her died as well, well, it was another. It was far more painful than simply watching her loved somebody else. Which—to make things worse—was my own friend. And the sequence of the event alone was the worst. First, I found out that I couldn't be the one to make her happy. Second, I realized that I couldn't even WATCH her happy, even if it's with someone else. And last, I must saw her died too? My fate seriously led me into some miserable state here.

You can't change what is written nor erase it.

Just like a book written with permanent ink.

I was in the middle of my frustrated-reminiscing-self when I felt a presence nearby.

And that was the first time I met you.

You approached me like a lost rabbit inside the forest she lived in. Smoothly, curiously, with hidden fear and confusion.

"Is anyone there?" you asked carefully as if you didn't want to break the serenity of the night.

I stayed silent.

"Uhh... Answer me, please?" now that was rather stupid. It was either rhetoric or just simply stupid.

"No one's here," I finally let my voice out.

"I see," you came out of the forest with that. It was your (E/C) eyes that caught my attention first when I first saw you. The way they reflected the moonlight and hid the mystery within. Then, your flowing (H/C) hair that was slightly swept by the breeze. You were wearing a short cape that was enough to hide your upper body. It was like a perfect painting of a night forest that's completed with an elf emerging from it.

"Hey! You said there's no one here," and it was right at that second,

the perfect painting was destroyed.

"Yeah, I'm just your imagination," I said exasperatedly.

Silence.

"Okay. I'm just going to ignore you then," she said with an innocent grin.

Silence.

...

"Wha– are you stupid? I thought you were just messing with me!"
