I walked down the long staircase, making sure to take my sweet precious time. I stopped midway and ducked just so Alex wouldn't see me. About 45 minutes have passed and we're definitely late to school. I could see Alex impatiently sipping from a mug. He glanced at his watch and his eyes widened.

"Lola, GET DOWN HERE THIS SECOND!" He screamed.

I snickered and a snort escaped my lips. I quickly placed a hand over my mouth, hoping Alex didn't hear me. I looked up to see his eyes boring into mine. I stood awkwardly before smirking, regaining my confidence.

"Did you have fun waiting?" I asked tauntingly.

He rolled his eyes and tossed over my bag.

"Let's go." he said, opening the huge front doors with one swift pull. I wonder how he did that. It took me half of my strength just to open our mansion doors. He held the door open for me, waiting for me to walk out first. I made my way over to him before gasping.

"Shit, I forgot my phone!" I whisper shouted.

I turned around and made my way to the stairs. Alex groaned behind me and I smirked as an idea came to mind. I took all the time in the world going up stairs and coming back down. I slipped my phone into my back pocket as I came face to face with Alex. He looked frustrated........ perfect.

I walked pass him and was halfway down the stone steps when I remembered I forgot my earphones.

"My earphones!" I told Alex.

He gently nudged me from the back. "Your not going back in. Get in the car or walk to school." he said in a serious tone. I huffed and turned into our gated driveway.

"Which car?" I asked.

He stayed silent for a moment.

"Range Rover?" he asked.

I shook my head no.

I always loved our Royal Blue Mercedes. Something about the way it smelled gave me comfort.

"Mercedes." I said bluntly.

"We have three of those, which one?" He now faced me.
He knows which ones my favorite. I don't know why he's playing dumb. He's the one that's trying to get me to school on time. Not me.

"What other one will I be talking about?" I sassed and walked over to the blue car.

I heard him murmur something behind me about rich people problems. We drove in silence until I decided to speak up.

"So when is mom and dad coming back?" I asked.

"Sometime this week. Probably Friday."

I nodded my head.

"So tomorrow then.  I said.

He gave a sly nod before focusing back on the road. Once we pulled into Norcross High, (sorry if this is a real school. Nothing but a coincidence) I gave Alex a quick hug before climbing out. He drove off and I knew he was going to his school campus. Alex graduated high school two years ago. He was now in college. So freaking lucky. I swerve through the hallway until I bumped into someone.

I looked up ready to give an apology until I saw her smile.
"Hey Erica." I said warmly.

We both kneeled down to retrieve her books. "Hey." she said back, showing me her pearly whites. We stood back up at the same time.

"So, your going to homeroom or you wanna skip?"

I gave a lighthearted laugh.

"As tempting as that sounds, I'm going to have to pass."

She did a pouty face before smiling again.

"Okay, well, I'll catch you later."

"Okay." I smiled. We parted ways and I couldn't help but feel sad. Maybe it's just the fact that I'm in school. There's always a dragging feeling here. I skipped up the stairs and made a turn on a hallway. Soon I entered a classroom and took a seat in the back. I pulled up my Hoodie and sighed. The class was practically empty. Maybe I should've taken Erica up on her offer to skip. I wonder if it's too late. Suddenly the bell rang and people poured into the room. The day couldn't end possibly soon enough.

After homeroom, I ran into the hallway hoping to find Erica. Maybe skipping the next class would be quite amusing. I held my books tight to my chest as I squished through random people. I hit a buff chest, causing me to drop my books and step back, groaning from the pain in my nose.

"Jerk." I murmured.

"Well, your the one who bumped into me. Who's the jerk now?"

I looked up to find the bastard with the rude remark. Look who's talking. You just called him a jerk.

I shushed my mind and focused my eyes. Standing before me was Jason. I gagged a bit in my mouth. I've known this douche ever since sixth grade. He smirked and licked his lips. His face made me want to puke. Every girl in the school were head over heels for this guy. They would literally give him anything. Most are just thirsty sluts who want Jason for his good looks and money. He's a stuck-up  bitch and I can't stand him.

"So." he continued to smirk. "You gonna pick up those books you dropped?" he asked.

I dropped my jaw. The nerve this douche has. I bent down and picked up my books. His eyes never left me and I knew it. Once I stood back up, I caught him staring at the books in my hand.

"Got chemistry next I see."

I looked down at the pile of books in my hand.

"Chemistry isn't the only subject book I'm holding. What makes you think I have that class next?" I spat in pure venom.

His smirk only grew wider. I wanted to smack it right off his face.

"Just an assumption." he said. "So you got the class next or what?"

I gave a weak nod while eyeing him suspiciously.

"Well then, we both have chemistry together." His smirk now disappeared into a smile. Not one that was genuine or kind. It was the kind of smile that made you want to shiver out of fear. I contemplated on running to the girl's bathroom down the hall. That's when the bell rang and I saw principal Winston walk towards me and Jason. I shot Jason one last dirty look before walking away to class. I knew he was trailing behind me. I tried walking a little faster hoping that would better the situation. It didn't. Jason's long strides caught up with mines in no time. I sighed as I entered the classroom. I took a seat in the last row which was in the back. This was going to be a very long day.
