Jason left right after he dropped me off at home. He said something about having to go take care of business. Not that I cared about where he was going or what he was doing. Nick and Susan weren't home either. Today is their day off so I'm guessing they went out together. I believe Susie took Cocoa with her because the puppy was nowhere in sight. I didn't have a problem with that. I walked into the kitchen and found a huge bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolate roses sitting on the counter. I gasped as I took it all in. A card was set on top of the flowers, while a sticky note was taped onto one of the chocolate boxes. I picked up the sticky note and read it first.
Found these at the doorstep. It was addressed to you, so I thought I should bring it in for you. Anyway, whoever sent these over is a keeper! P.S- Will be back tomorrow. I took the puppy with me, hope you don't mind.
-love, Susie
This must be the gift Derek told me he sent. I folded the sticky note and placed it back on the counter. My phone began to ring, stopping me from grabbing the card. I looked for the caller id but there wasn't one. It was an unknown number. I picked it up, curiosity getting the best of me.
"Hello?" I spoke in a quiet tone.
"Hey Lola, it's me Jason."
I furrowed my brow. "How did you get my number?"
"Your mom gave it to me." He said in a obvious tone.
"Whatever, what do you want?"
"Just wanted to tell you, I'll be back tomorrow. I'm going out with a few friends and-
I stopped him. "I don't really care so why are you telling me this?"
He sighed on the other end. "I'm telling you just in case our parents call or something. If I don't pick up, they'll call you. Tell them I'm okay if they call."
The fact that he was going to be out for the night bothered me. This is just typical Jason being irresponsible again. I scowled at the thought of him being out all night. But there's nothing between us right? We both agreed that we would avoid each other as much as possible. Honestly, I don't care and I still hate him. Nothing could change that feeling.
"Have fun sleeping around all night, I mean isn't that your intention? To go out all night screwing girls in bed. Have fun Jason, and try not to catch an STD."
I don't know if I imagined it, or if what my ears heard was true. Jason growled on the other end of the line.
"Fuck off Lola. Honestly, how many fucking times do I have to put you in your place? Stupid bitch I swear you'll get yourself killed because of that mouth of yours!"
"Aww Jason, the truth hurts? I can understand that on your behalf because being honest isn't one of your best traits. There's no point in lying. I could honestly care less what you do with your life."
"If you didn't care, you wouldn't assume or judge. But we all know, that's not true."
He mumbled something about me being an annoying brat. Oh, so he sees me as vexatious now?
"Is your ass jealous by the amount of shit that comes out your mouth? Because I swear Jason, you talk so much shit, I'm pretty sure a toilet couldn't contain your words!"
He laughed bitterly.
"Lose my number, Jason."
"Whatever." He mumbled. I could hear the faint voice of a girl in the background calling his name. I rolled my eyes and hung up. I was boiling mad and I hated how easily he could control my emotions. One minute I'll be happy, then after conversing with Jason I'll be demented. It's like a merry go round of emotions. I huffed and picked up the card on the table. I shouldn't let our argument get to me.
Hey babe, I saw these flowers and immediately thought of you. Sounds weird, I know but I couldn't help but remember you. You've literally taken over my mind. Even at night! All I know is that I can't stop imagining what we could do together. Things I could do to you. I know all I have to do is wait. Have patience and make you mine when the time is right. But I'm starting to grow impatient. Sooner or later I'll have to show just how much I want you. Anyway, until that time comes, I'll let you take the lead. Enjoy the chocolates, beautiful.
-sincerely, Derek.
I closed the card in awe. The ending of the card was a bit weird, but I brushed it off. He thought of me. Isn't that what matters? He cares for me. Maybe friendzoning him wasn't the best thing to do. I immediately thought of my plan and called Derek. It took a while before he answered, but he eventually did. I gave instructions and told him to come over. We're going to hang out and I'm going to fix what I messed up.
"Okay, I'll be there shortly."
We hung up and I dashed up the stairs. Tonight should be interesting.
