"Sorry, but you can't go out with him." Jason spoke.
I whipped my head around. He was currently following me up the stairs. His presence irks me, yet I haven't told him to leave me be. I was silently hoping Susan would be in my room waiting for me. "You don't have the right to tell me who I can and can't see!"
"Lola, please-"
I cut him off. "No Jason, leave me alone. I don't want to fight with you right now."
We rounded a corner.
"Can you stop following me?"
He ignored my question. "Please, I need you to trust me this one time. You can't see him."
I let out a bitter laugh. "Trust isn't something you should be asking from me right now."
He stopped."Why do you have to be so difficult. You're such a...a fucking-"
"Bitch." I finished. "Yeah, I know."
He ran a hand down his face.
"You don't even know him. How would you feel if I told you not to hang with Jessica?"
He looked down. "She broke up with me." he whispered.
He stood there silent. This wasn't what I was expecting. As horrible as it sounds, the fact that he was no longer with her made me happy.I scolded myself. I don't know why, but I just wasn't comfortable seeing him with someone. Was that how he felt about me?
"Why?" I asked. As soon as the word left my mouth, I cursed myself.
"Sorry, that's rude. You don't have to answer that." my voice sympathetic.
"No, it's fine." he held a hand up and shrugged. "She thought I had feelings for someone else."
I scratched the back of my neck, wondering what the time was. No doubt, I'm going to be late. Derek will pull up any second now. I sighed remembering that I gave him my address. Maybe he lives far and he'll take a while. I wanted to push on and ask if he truly had feelings for someone else. Then I remember the Jason that lied and said I was his sister. The Jason that's cocky and ruthless. The Jason that tried to rape me in the bathroom. Anger flashed before my eyes, but I remain calm.
"Well, I'm sorry to hear that." I lied. I'm pretty sure he could tell to. My voice held no sort of compassion or care. I turned to continue my way to my room.
"Wait!" Jason said. I turned at him impatiently.
"I do know him."
"How?" I asked, now curious as to how Jason and Derek knew one another. Maybe they're friends. All of Jason's friends are exactly like him, I swear if Derek is the same way-
"No, we're not friends." Jason assured. What, he could read minds now or something?
"At least not anymore."
"Okay, but that doesn't answer why I shouldn't be with him."
Jason grimaced. "I-I can't tell you that."
What the hell was his problem? Now I'm fuming!
"You know what Jason? Screw yourself! You're the most complicated being I've ever met, you know that? If only I could rip those stupid contracts and end this bullshit. You know how wonderful my life would've been if only my parents never met yours? I could only wish!"
We stood there after my sudden rant. The only thing you could hear was our hard breathings. Realization of what I said settled in and I just wanted to take it back. Or at least take back the part about my parents never meeting his. He stared at me long and hard and his jaw clenched.
