(Sorry for writing about DEH a second time, but venting through Evan is really easy.)

Evan looked around and smiled. He was finally alone. He looked at the tree he had been thinking about climbing for the longest time. It was a forty foot white oak tree that Evan loved to climb. This time though, he wanted to go higher.
Evan walked closer to the tree and just looked at it for a while. Some would figure he was stalling, but he saw no rush on doing what he was about to do.
The white oak's branches were perfectly placed and the perfect size to sustain a human. Evan smiled as he recalled the facts about the tree. It was the tenth most common tree in America and this particular one was on the small side since they usually range from 50-80 feet.
Evan cursed at himself. "This is why you have no friends." He chuckled to himself as he grabbed the first branch and began to climb. Each branch he took in his hand took some weight off his shoulders. He kept climbing until the rest of the branches were to small for him to get a proper foot or hand hold on.
He was about 20-30 feet up, he couldn't quite tell or care for that matter. Evan just wanted to be dead. He sat on the branch and looked at the sun coming up, beautiful shades of red and yellow mixed with blue filled his eyes. It was nice to know that he would go at a peaceful time.
Sitting there for a couple minutes felt like an eternity for Evan. He took a deep breath and said."These are your last thoughts, make them count." He looked down and took another deep breath."I shouldn't bother with a note. No one will care. Not Mom, not Zoey, not Jared, nobody." He felt the tears start to drip from his face onto the bark of the tree.
After he looked down once more Evan looked back up at the sky."Wish I could stay here forever this way, b-but I have somewhere to be." He spoke almost to the sun. He felt a smile be made up of his lips and he stood up for extra length. Evan leaned back and then let go of the branch.
It felt wonderful.
Evan didn't scream, or open his eyes. He heard the wind whistle in his ears, the branches threatened to hold him but he missed them by some miracle. It felt like he was flying. He felt the tears falling from his eyes move up ward almost immediately. Evan felt like he was flying, and for a moment he forgot his worries.
This calm state didn't last long for Evan because it was interrupted by him hitting the ground. He didn't yell nor call for help. He just laid there waiting for the life to be drained out of him. But it wasn't.
Evan groaned and shifted to his right side painfully.'No,No,No,No,No-' he thought to himself. He shouldn't be alive. Tears of pain and lost flew down his face as he realized he had failed.

Until you hit the ground...
