Evan wandered home from school having stayed home after to hang out with Jared. He went home slightly dragging his shoes across the sidewalk. Once he got there he took them off and plummeted face first onto the couch.
"Hey Eva-! Oh what happened bro?" Jeremy sat down on the free space of the couch. Evan looked up at him.He carefully picked his words.
"You and Christine have been dating for a while...right?" Evan kept his voice low so he could avoid stuttering.
"Yeah! Wait, why?"
"I was h-hoping for some advise?" Evan didn't meet eyes with his brother.
"Sure man! Who's the lucky dude?"
"W-Why are you-you assuming it-its a dude?"
"It's a gender neutral term. Don't you have Tumblr?"
"No..."
"Anyway! She or he will probably just want you to confess. No mater how hard it will be for you. It'll feel nice to get the weight off your chest..." Evan could tell Jeremy was getting lost in his words so he quickly spoke up.
"Uh-How should I do that?"
"Don't do it during a play thinking it'll be sweet and impress them.I had a dream about that once and it did not end well."((I applaud you if you get that reference)). He was confused about the brunette's specifics but shrugged it off."Just talk to them." Jeremy sat up and walked off."I'm gonna go...play games with Michael." He walked out the door leaving Evan to think.
How should he tell Jared? Should he tell Jared? He took a deep breath and pulled out his phone. In person would be his best decision.
"Hey!" Was that being to clingy?
"Hey,Jared. I was wondering if you wanted to hang out again after school tomorrow?" Evan quickly pushed send so he couldn't think twice about his decision. He put his phone away and looked up at his ceiling. He got lost in the light blue.
What if Jared didn't feel the same? Would he just have to lose his friend he's known all his life for his silly feelings? What is Jared wasn't gay? Evan made himself chuckle, making himself feel better. A while had past and Evan sent another text.
"Since I had fun today."
He quickly got a reply.
"Sure man. Didn't see this before srry."
Jared's lack of vowels made Evan cringe but he couldn't help but smile.
"See you then"

The school day was stressful for Evan. He paid more attention in classrooms keep his mind off the conversation he was going to have to have. He said his goodbye to Alana after his last class and headed over to his locker to get somethings.
He dropped his notebook and reached down to grab it but someone was quicker than him. Evan gasped and looked up."Relax acorn. It's just me." Jared snickered."The look on your face was great btw." He handed Evan the notebook and pushed his glasses up.
"Y-Yeah...you got me." Evan put all of his school books and other school utensils in his backpack and stood back up."So...wanna go back to the park?"
"Sure." Jared held onto the straps on his backpack and started to walk off. Evan quickly followed, dodging his classmates awkwardly.
They quietly made their way to the park. It was a comfortable distance away from the school and had a perfect bench that was in the shade of a pine tree. Evan was sure it was planted there by people a generation ago.
Sitting in silence, the two boys tried to figure out a way to start a conversation."So..." Jared started."You just can't get enough of me,can you?" He pursed his lips and smiled.
"I really can't." Evan said, dazed off from looking at the sky.
"Evan, I know I'm your only friend but that was pretty depressing and gay." Jared put a hand on the blonde's shoulder."Are you okay?"
Evan shrugged."I-I don't know." He was suddenly regretting multiple recent life choices."I like hanging out with you?" It came out more a question then an answer.
"I..." Jared trailed off."Like hanging with you too." The words seemed to pain Jared when he said them. Evan smiled awkwardly.
"I-Uh I have something to say..."
"Shoot my dude."
"I...think I...like you." It seemed to be going smoothly but then Jared wore a confused look in his eyes."Like I like you like you? It's fine if you don't feel the same way.I mean I was totally expecting that but I kind of want you to feel the same. Again you totally don't have to-"
"Evan. Slow the fuck down. Are you saying you want to date me or you just appreciate me?" Jared held onto Evan's shoulders making the taller boy's ears go warm.
"T-The first one."
"God damn it Evan!" Jared held his head in his hands.
"I-m sorry I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I-I just I'm sorry I'm-"
"I wanted to ask you out!"
"What?" Evan raised his voice.
Jared nodded and planted a quick kiss on Evan's lips making them both flush shades of pink and red."I'm proud of you though."

Evan walked home resisting the urge to spin around or hold his heart to not obtain attention to himself. He walked into his house and was greeted with a bubbly Jeremy."Did you do it?" He stood up from his place on the couch. Mr. Heere looked confused.
"Yes. Yes I did." Evan sat down without another word. Letting out a long satisfying sigh.
