CHAPTER 1X10

X. Our Side

"Are you telling me you don't like Unity Day? Really?" Clarissa was surprised, "C'mon it's the best we've had in a while. It's hopeful."

Finn looked at her, "Unity Day is a lie. The Ark only –."

"I know the story, Finn. But in the middle of all this, hope it's needed." She sighed, "And peace comes after the storm."

"But was the storm really necessary?"

"Finn, don't..."

"Clarissa, since when are you on Bellamy's side?" Finn sounded disappointed, "What happened that made you change your opinion about him so much? He's selfish."

Clarissa knew better than that, she had seen a side of Bellamy Blake that no one else had. It wasn't about the kiss they shared the previous night on the woods, it didn't go that deep. But he seemed to care about her, and more important about their people. It was all that mattered.

"I know it's hard to understand but he's a good person. He saved my life, believe it or not." She explained, "And I stand with him."

"Well did you forget he almost let you die on that trap?" He reminded her, "He's still the same Bellamy. The selfish one. He's dragging you to darkness, Clary. And I won't let that happen."

"I appreciate your concern, but I can handle myself." Clarissa smiled softly.

"If you keep up like this we'll never stop digging graves." Finn warned her, "That grounder was only protecting himself, surviving like us. You know that as much as I do."

"Bellamy is one of us. So trust me when I tell you this, please." Clarissa pleaded, "Don't make me choose between two sides when really there is just one. Our side."

Finn had to admit, Clary was good with her words. That was what got her to be Queen, in the first place. She could say whatever she wanted that people believed her, she inspired people. Clary could be saying the best lie of all times, they would believe it just because it was hers.

"I trust you, I just don't like where this is going. I just hope you know what you're doing, Clary."

He kissed her forehead in a gentle gesture.

Clarissa's eyes found Bellamy when Finn stepped back next to her side. He was among the crowd, looking at her too. She looked away, a shy smile founding its way to her face; damn, she never used to blush, what was Bellamy doing to her?

"Monty strikes again!" Finn and Clarissa's attention went to Jasper, "Who is thirsty?"

She couldn't help but giggle. It was nice to see everyone happy for a change, at least as happy as it was possible giving the circunstances. It meant they had been doing something right.

Then Clary remembered to ask, "How is Clarke with everything?"

"Not that we're talking much but she seems to be taking it better than I am." Finn replied.

"Finn, she will forgive you. Not today, not tomorrow but she will." Clarissa romantized, "Because two people who love each other that much shouldn't be kept apart." Her green eyes drifted to look at Raven with sorrow, "Don't hurt her too. Tell her the truth."

With that Clarissa left her best friend alone to think things through, maybe he'd made the right choice this one time. If he followed her advice, he would. Clary was always very good at giving advices to other people, maybe she should start following her own advices too.
