MARLEY'S POV

"He definitely keeps looking at you."

"Looking at me?! You must be mad. We're in the same year and he hardly knows I exist." I persisted.

"No I'm pretty sure he's looking at you. He hasn't blinked in a good two minutes."

"Nooww  you're over-exaggerating," I said turning my head across the Great Hall. I immediately locked eyes with Potter. There was a moment where we just kinda looked into each other's eyes. I know its cheesy, but it definitely happened. I saw all the depth and emotion in his eyes, even if it was just for a spilt second.

Then it ended. He blushed and quickly turned away. I heard distant laughs coming from Kate and Lisa as I turned back to look at them.

"We may act crazy but we aren't," Lisa said. "You aren't the only exceptionally smart one in Ravenclaw ya know."

Silence filled our conversation for a minute. My head dropped looking at my clean plate. I didn't want to admit it- I never wanted to even accept the thought. Since Year 3 I had been crushing on the infamous Harry Potter. I knew it was totally cliche and stupid, given he was easily the most heroic wizard of his time. But I couldn't help it. He was everything I wanted to be.. plus he had the most wonderful smile. He was perfect.

I took my fork up reluctantly and turned it around over and over again, giving my eye something interesting to watch.

"Marley, you should go talk to him!" Kate finally spoke up. My head lifted at the sound of my name before I rolled my eyes at her immature comment.

"Absolutely not. Why should I?" I answered.

"She's right, Kate. Hermoine would tear her to shreds and Ginny would get super protective. I heard her and Potter have a thing for each other." Lisa said as she sat next to Kate.

"Obviously not because he is still staring at Marley," Kate defended, pointing over my shoulder. I turned around again to see not only Potter looking over in a trance, but Hermoine scowled at us before hitting Harry with a book, making him turn around.

"See what I mean!" I finally said. "Granger would slice us up and put her in one of her potions."

"Well think you should go and talk to him, especially because the Yule Ball is mere days away and you still don't have a date." She said reaching over the table and nudging me.

"Neither do you!" I defended.

"Thats not true!! Ya know that little blonde haired boy? Malfoy?" Kate continued.

"Yeah I have Defense Against the Dark Arts with him." I said.

"Well I'm going to ask him. Right. Now!" She said getting up from her seat. I saw Lisa reach over and try to stop her but she was already at the Slytherin table before we could say the word Butter-Beer.

Lisa and I both looked at each other and waited mere minutes before Kate and her bouncy black curls came back into our vision.

"So how was the rejection? Under the table or overly big and insulting?" Lisa said, not moving her eyes up from her book. I saw Kate close Lisa's book, gaining both Lisa and my's full attention.

"He, said, YES!" She practically squealed. I sighed and crossed my arms, trying to ignore the obnoxious Kate in front of me.

"Ok now you HAVE to ask Potter out on a date. Or at least to the Yule Ball." Kate persisted. I looked at Lisa who, instead of defending me, just shrugged and said, "She's right. After that you can't get out of this one."
