"Oh calm down Daryl, it was just me." I say, annoyance in my voice.
He gives me this strange look, but I ignore it.
"We have more important things right now."
"Like what?" Rick asks while putting his gun up.
"Well, for one, the fence almost came down. Again. And second, the Governor."
Everybody goes to a stand still at the mention of the Governor.
"What about him?" Daryl asks calmly, but I can hear a edge to his voice. A scary edge.
"One of his latest victims is inside. A little girl. I found her out in the woods."
"Alone?" Rick asks.
"Yes. They were escaping from Woodbury. Her mother got shot while they were running. Died two days later, been alone since."
All the men sort of give me this look, making my irritation grow. As if it wasn't bad enough dealing with the fences almost coming down, on our own, they come back laughing and acting like it's no big deal. Ugh. Men.
"Rick, she's five."
That got their attention. I was thinking I'd have to dance around naked on a pole to get their full attention. Stupid guns and dead deer. This is what happens when you put a shiny gun in front of a simple minded man. Wow, I must be PMSing or something, I'm acting really weird.
"Five? How long was she alone?"
"She said three days. I found her in a tent hiding."
"What I would like to know, is how my motorcycle got involved in all of this?" Daryl asks.
Maggie, Rick, Glen, Carol, and I all glare at him.
"What?" He asks sheepishly. "It's a valid question!"
"I took it to distract the walkers, so you know, they wouldn't get over the fence and kill us all. Kill your wife. Yeah, remember me?"
Ouch. Bitchy much? Get it together Taylor! Who was the one who let you sleep in late, did all these nice things for you? Sure wasn't Merle.
"What is your problem?" He asks.
"We'll have this discussion later. But for now, we should talk about Bella."
"Who?"
"Cirebella. Or Bella. The girl."
"Right. Where is she?"
"Inside with Carl."
"Good. Let's go talk to her, then we'll deal with the fences." Rick says.
I nod and follow him inside. Daryl gives me this look, but I ignore it. Oh my gosh what is my issue?! Then I remember something. It's been a over a month since Woodbury. And over a month since my last period. I normally get really grumpy and short tempered when I'm late. I'm hoping that's all it is. Just being off schedule, nothing more. God, I hope so.
"Hey, you coming?" Daryl asks
I noticed I've stopped walking and everybody else is already inside.
"What? Yeah."
I shake myself from the haunting thought and follow him inside. As soon as I walk through the door, Bella runs to my side.
"I don't like them." She whispers, clutching my leg.
"Oh, honey, it's alright. Nobodies going to hurt you. You're safe here."
"Not like bad man?"
I shake my head and smile. "No. Not like bad man."
She nods, still holding onto me.
