If I wanted to be considered a ninja, and respected as a strong one, I have to take this seriously.
I have to train the hardest I can everyday, and develop the biggest amount of jutsu I can.
I wasn't born with the Yowaigan and Tsuyoigan, so the minimum I could do now is try to catch up with the others in my clan.
My family abandoned me... I have to make them regret it. If they are still alive, anyway...
"So... Yumi-chan, are you excited about this?" Asked Naruto, as we reached home. It has been just 2 days since I managed to do my Atsuigan... And everyone already knew about it.
So they thought it would be good for me to go on my first mission... It left me thinking dead worried about myself...
Already leaving the village for missions and everything?! All I was able to do was a little whitish energy sphere, it wouldn't save my life if anyone decent actually attacked.
"Y-Yeah... Actually, Naruto-kun, I'm kinda nervous..." I admitted to him. I was dead worried! Does the Hokage really think it is a good idea to send the failed Nakanishi daughter and the hyperactive knucklehead together somewhere?!
I would die! And if I didn't, it would be Naruto that would save me... I am still useless, wanting it or not.
But wait, aren't missions usually held with a trio? Or a group of four instead of a pair? Why would they send just the unstable duo that Naruto and I make? There is something fishy going on...
"Relax, it will only happen next week! We have time to train and improve! Dattebayo!" And with that smile, I knew Naruto would comfort me and help me feel confident about the mission. "Also, did they tell you who else was coming with us?"
And I froze, someone else is coming with us?! That ruins the fun! Why can't it be just me and Naru- Ugh, okay, I have to accept the fact that we would probably die if it was only the two of us.
"N-No... I'm sorry, they didn't say anything about another compani-" And I was interrupted mid-sentence when I suddenly felt a hand tap my shoulder from behind.
The now startled me, turned around slowly and saw a boy with his skin as white as paper.
My eyes widened, who is he? Is he someone I am supposed to know? For him to be poking my shoulder so casually... I have never seen him before.
His hair was black, contrasting dramatically with the pale tone of his skin. His dull eyes were the same colour, and couldn't help but stare awkwardly at me. I just stood there like a dork and waited for Naruto to do something...
Sadly, Naruto didn't help, so he was now staring at the boy which stared at me. And I stared back so it was so many stares that it got socially awkward and I was embarrassed.
"I'm Sai." He said monotonously, as if he lacked emotion or any skills of how to interact with other people.
I slowly nodded.
"O-Okay... I'm Yumiko?" I tried to introduce myself back, and seem educated and the adorable girl some people in the village took me for. But I guess I failed, since I was so startled with everything that happened in the last seconds, my brain was slow at processing information.
"Why are you asking me who you are? Aren't you supposed to know?" And I think my questioning tone was taken a bit too seriously by this 'Sai' boy.
I shot a call for help to Naruto with my eyes, and he suddenly stopped staring at us and began talking.
"O-Oh! Hum... Yumi-chan, this is Sai." And I payed attention to him as he explained everything. "He is... Hum, part of Team 7."
And I remember about Team 7, the blond has mentioned it to me several times before. It was something about being Naruto, Sakura and that Sasuke in a team with their sensei Kakashi. And then I guess Sasuke left and he was replaced by someone named Sai. Now I know who this Sai person is, but I wish I didn't to be honest...
"Yes. I will be the one to go with you on the mission to the Forest of Death, as the leader."
And as Sai said that, Naruto sweatdropped, as if disappointed with something.
"You're the leader?! Aww man, I wanted to lead this team!" And he started ranting about never getting the opportunity to be the leader in a mission because 'Grandma Tsunade' didn't trust him. I believe he was referring to the Fifth Hokage? I heard her name was Tsunade, but I didn't know Naruto was this close to her to be calling her that? Or maybe he isn't...
"Ugh... That's nice. Nice to meet you... Sai?" And he nodded at me, a smile now present on his face.
How can I even describe that smile? It looked fake, as if he smiled but didn't actually want to, or know how to properly. Actually, none of his expressions showed actual emotions at all, he resembled a robot in some kind of way.
Imagine going on your first mission with him as the leader... Surely a peculiar experience...
