Throughout my story I will make several doctor who references, see if you can find them ;)
Song for this chapter- First Day of my Life by Bright Eyes :)
My eyelids fluttered open as the car screeched to a stop. I looked outside the window as my vision adjusted to the light. The haze getting more distinct as I found myself parked outside my new house. The huge mahogany door glinted in the sunlight, as the light sandstone walls seemed to radiate with life. The windows were huge, placed on each side of the door, to let in as much light as possible. It was absolutely breathtaking. The palm trees swayed like dancers with the slight breeze, seeming as light as the air itself. As I stepped outside the car to admire it, the smell of freshly cut grass hit my senses immediately, and I breathed it in earnestly.
Then I did the most lady-like thing I knew, I squealed and started rolling around on the grass.
"That's not our lawn."
"THIS GRASS FEELS LIKE JESUS--WAIT WHATT?" I sat up, alert, looking at my mom.
She rolled her eyes and explained, "We currently don't have the money to buy a house...so we rented..half of one. We're living with the Walkers. They're very nice people, old friends of your fathers, and have two sons named Damien and Archer. I think they're only 10 or 11 years old if I remember correctly, so you can probably baby-sit for them, make some money, eh?" She winked, and proceeded to unload the car with the moving-truck drivers.
Kids? Before Dad had gone, I was awesome with kids. They're so cute and you can tickle them all day and they still won't get bored. I bet they have legos! LEGOS ARE SO FUN. Shut up Amber My brain told myself.
Brushing the jesus grass off my jeans, I suddenly realized that I was hot. The sun's rays were directly overhead, something you would have never seen in October in New Jersey. Quickly, I reached into my bag and pulled out the SPF 50 sunscreen and lathered it onto my arms and face, making sure I wouldn't roast in this heat. Then, curiously, I walked around the house to the back.
There was a pool. It was so inviting, I couldn't help but stick my hand into the crystal blue water. And when I did, "MOTHER OF GOD THE WATER FEELS FANTASTIC" I squealed. And it was just so kind when the lawnmowers next door drowned out the next couple minutes of my childish screams of delight, thank you neighbors very much.
I raced back around the front and barged into the front door, only to find my mom unloading groceries calmly in the kitchen.
"Honey, Mr. and Mrs.Walker are both at work, but I think I heard one of the boys upstairs. You should go play with them, I know how you used to love kids."
I hope this he was cute, little kids are so adorable.
"This kid better share his legos." With that comment, I sprinted up the stairs, saw a silhouette under the crack of the door, and burst through.
"HEY SWEETIE! You ready to have some...fun?" My jaw dropped. In front of me stood the most glorious human being I have ever laid eyes on. Shirtless, his defined abs were smooth as glass and rock solid. His piercing blue eyes were like the ocean, full of depth and color. His sandy brown hair was messy, only adding to his god-like sexiness. Luckily, he had jeans on, or else my eyes would've strayed from his beautiful face.
He smirked, and suddenly I felt extremely self conscious in my very normal looking jeans and pac-man shirt.
Realizing what I had just said, I stuttered, "Uh..NO! I mean..like...I wasn't expecting you to be like this! Wait that came out wrong! Let's try this again...I'm Amber, and I live here now." I said as confidently as I could without getting lost in those ridiculous eyes of his.
"I'm Damien," He spoke slowly, taking his time to run his hand through his hair, torturing me with his beauty, "And I think we're gonna have alot of fun." He winked as he grabbed a shirt made his way out the door, his bare chest brushing against me as his smell intoxicated my brain, making my breaths short and jagged.
My eyes trailed after him, as he made his way down the stairs. My heart was still racing, as I collected my thoughts. I can't believe my mom just made me embarass myself in front of ALL OF THAT BEAUTIFULNESS.
I gazed around his room. My eyes fixed onto his table. There were piles of messy papers, so I picked one up, and noticed that it was actually a drawing. The abstract art was breathtaking, a pencil design of broken flowers in a sunset field. My fingers stroked the borders, making sure that it was real. Gingerly, I set the drawing back, and creeped out of the room, taking one last look at the pile of unknown art.
I slowly made my way down the stairs, peeking around for Damien.
"Honey, Damien just left, he said he was going to run some errands. What a nice kid."
"KID? Last time I checked, that is not a ten year old boy!"
"Well dear, I did say IF I remember correctly, and I didn't. Seven years isn't THAT much of a difference."
"Fine, I'll take your excuses for me embarassing myself. Which room's mine?"
"Upstairs, on the right. Your stuff's already in there."
I trudged up the stairs, yes trudged, because I am so lazy I can't walk the stairs quickly twice in a thirty minute period. Here's something you should know about me: my sarcasm never ends, even inside by own head.
I pushed open the door, and entered the room. The mint green seemed to bounce off the walls, engulfing the whole room in a refreshing bright light. The windows were large and rectangular, giving a great view of the street and had a small roof extending from it, just enough for me to climb onto at night and watch the stars.
"Uh hem" A low cough came from the corner of the room. I turned around, and found myself gazing into a pair of familiar blue eyes. But these were lighter, more playful, they resembeled a clear blue sky rather than a deep raging ocean. His hair was slightly lighter than Damiens, and shorter cut. His jawline was chiseled, and his skin was smooth and flawless. I had to take a step to keep from falling towards him.
"Hey, I'm Archer," He flashed a dazzling grin, "You must be Amber right? Dad told me you'd be moving in today. Welcome to California."
I was too mesmerized by how he said all that whilst still smiling the entire time to reply.
"Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that-"
"I saw your brother shirtless by accident!" I blurted. Damn my big mouth. "I didn't mean to I'm so sorry I just walked in and I just want you to know I'm not one of those creepy people who just go around creeping in and doing creepy stuff." I rushed, trying to connect my words together.
"Woah, bro chill, this is California, we practically live shirtless. Don't worry about it, and don't tell Damien anything good about him either, we don't need to inflate his ego anymore or he'll be the size of godzilla." He replied cheerfully.
I smiled, "Sorry, I get really nervous around..people sometimes."
"Well we better get over your fear soon because I'll be driving you to school tomorrow."
He said "we." We as in him and I. We sounded pretty good to me. WAIT HE'S DRIVING ME TO SCHOOL? My heart did a little happy dance.
I smiled at him again as he left.
I walked over to the box of unpacked things, reached in, and pulled out a picture. It was my dad and I, apple picking when I was seven. My eyes smiled with sorrow, which was soon replaced with determination.
"I'm going to be happy dad, just you wait and see."
I hope you guys liked this chapter because I worked fairly hard on it. Sorry, I introduced certain characters a little late.
Who do you like better so far? Damien or Archer? Vote/Comment!
P.S. I'm gonna try to get another chapter done tonight so check back tomorrow morning if you really liked it :)
Constructive criticism is very welcomed! :)
