Moon froze, two cats were standing over Buzzard's dead body.

"Oh, Goldenstreak, we shouldn't have done this," gasped a golden she-cat with fear in her purple eyes, (Yes, her eyes are purple, fight me.) "it's not the warrior way!"

The albino tabby tom lashed his tail, "He killed our foster brother!"

The she-cat pressed her ears against her head in shock, "You can't've forgiven Deathstar after what he did to our father!"

"I-" Goldenstreak snarled, curling and then uncurling his tail in annoyance, "You're kit was just named deputy. He killed Deathstar, Ironstar and Yellowstar are presumed dead, they're hunting the leaders, Sunblaze!" he sighed and shook his head, "I don't want to lose any more of our kin."

A sea of royal purple grief flooded the she-cat's eyes, "It was for the best."  she nodded.

Moon was horror struck, how could the death of someone so close to her be "for the best?"

"Buzzard is dead!" Smokey shrieked, speeding off across the battlefield, "Retreat!"

Moon stood there, claws unsheathed in the dirt, panting for breath, it was rule that the death of the RoseClan leader meant surrender, but Moon did not want to retreat.

"No." she whispered, her father couldn't be dead.

Cats rushed around her in retreat, faint blurs in Moon's mind, their voices of fear distant echoes.

She recognized Hawk's gold eyes as they flashed past her, "Come on!" his voice, like everything around Moon felt like it was underwater.

Consumed by grief, she barely managed to follow him out of the forest.
