"I think he's waking up."
"Well, I certainly hope so. He's been out for three days!"
"Garen, don't worry us like that again, man."
Finally, Garen's eyes opened a little bit. Diedrich was looking right at him. He jumped back, startled to see him right there, and Diedrich laughed.
"Looks like he's awake!" he exclaimed. Garen sat up in his bed and rubbed the back of his head. He was back to his regular self, and didn't feel any pain. He was just groggy, like he woke up from a very long nap.
"What happened?" he asked. As he looked around, he noticed that everyone was with him. Nohr, Maevis, Xander, Lucius, Millicent, Horace, Rin, John, Diedrich, and Lenora. "Are you guys okay?"
"Everyone's completely fine, Garen," Maevis said with a friendly smile. "The Chancellor is under close supervision, though now that he knows Nicholas is gone, he's mourning him. I don't think he'll be waging war on us at any time soon." Garen smiled at everyone. They were his new family, and he knew that. He grabbed Lenora's hand gently and looked into her eyes. She smiled back at him, and Diedrich jumped up onto the top of Garen's head.
"Alrighty, everyone!" he exclaimed. "Clear the room! Let's give these two their time alone." Diedrich winked at Garen as he guided everyone out of the room. In that moment, Garen scoffed, his heart pounding like crazy.
"I already know what you want to say," Lenora chuckled. "Just say it." Garen blushed a little and nodded.
"Lenora..." he began. "I love you. I've been in love with you since the start. I never knew how to tell you, but..." Lenora leaned forward and pressed her lips to his with a gentle kiss. When she pulled back, she laughed lightly.
"I love you too, Garen," she said.
