Just a Bad Dream...

It was dark. There was nothing around him. He couldn't see anything. He didn't know where he was going. He could be walking into a wall - if there were any walls, any doors, anything. But there wasn't.

"Hiccup." Suddenly, a voice. A voice calling his name.

"Hello?" he called out. The voice spoke again, calling out to him again. All that Hiccup could do was follow the voice. The voice got louder and louder as he got closer. Soon, he saw a light. He picked up the pace and eventually went through.

The light blinded him for a sec before he was able to see. Once he could, he saw that he was somewhere. He couldn't make out where he was. Suddenly, he heard a loud roar. Two roars, in fact, coming from two dragons. He turned around and saw a familiar site.

Two bewilderbeasts fighting against each other. Hiccup ran up a small, snowy hill where he saw more. A battle against dragons hunters and dragon riders. That's where he knew where he was.

"This...this is the Dragon Sanctuary." he said. Once he said that, everything suddenly went silent. He was still at the place, but now, for some reason, everyone was gone. The only thing left behind were weapons. He wandered about the place, trying to find out what had just happened.

"This is getting weirder and weirder by the minute." he mumbled.

"Hiccup." Hiccup stopped. It was that voice. The voice from before. He turned around as the voice was really close. There, he saw someone. Someone familiar.

"Dad?" he said with disbelief. He could feel a tear running down his face as he ran up to Stoick, but once he made contact, he disappeared. Hiccup looked around, confused about what happened. Soon, he found him again.

"Dad!" he called out. But he didn't answer. He just slowly walked up to him, stopping about a foot away from him. He stared at Hiccup, making him confused.

"Dad?" he said unsurely.

"Hiccup, what have you done?" Stoick said, in a calm voice.

"What do you....?" Before Hiccup could finish the question, Stoick step aside, showing him an all too familiar site.

Stoick, lying on the ground, covered with bits of ice, motionless.

"No..." Hiccup fell to his knees, as the memories of that day came flooding back in.

"Why didn't you listen to me?" Hiccup got startled at Stoick's voice, realising he was standing almost next to him.

"What?" Hiccup said confusingly.

"I told you Drago could not be reason with, yet you still tried to." Stoick's voice got louder, showing anger.

"No, I...I..." Hiccup quickly got up, trying desperately to defend himself, but there was even doubt in him.

"If you had listen to me, I would still be alive!"

"No, I... I thought I could change him." Hiccup explained desperately.

"But you can't! You knew you couldn't!"

"I.... I'm sorry." Tears were started to fall.

"Are you, Hiccup?! Are you?! Why?! Why didn't you just listen to me?!"

"I'm sorry!"

"Why?!!" With that loud scream, Hiccup was pushed back, back to where he was standing when Toothless was under control.

"No, stop! I'm sorry!" Hiccup shouted, in pain. As Toothless came closer, he could Stoick calling out to him. He turned his head, seeing him running towards him.

"Dad! Stop, please! DAD!!"

"No!!" Hiccup shot up from his bed, breathing heavily. He could feel sweat coming down from his forehead. His muscles were tense. His eyes were watery. Soon, he fell back onto his bed, closing his eyes as his breathing began to calm down.

He then felt something on his hand. He turned around and saw who it was. It was Toothless. He had his head on Hiccup's hand, giving an concerned expression.

Hiccup smiled, as he sat up again, rubbing his head. "Woke you up, huh?" Toothless gave a small yelp. "Sorry, bud. It's OK. It was just a dream." He then yawned. "Should probably get back to sleep, yeah?" Toothless nodded before returning to his sleeping area. He lay down, closing his eyes and falling to sleep.

Hiccup lay back onto his bed, but he didn't close his eyes. He just stared at the ceiling.

"It was only a dream. It was only a dream." he repeated, almost like he was convincing himself. The thing is, despite it being a dream, there was only one thing that wasn't.

Stoick was gone. His father was gone. And there was nothing that can change that. Nothing.
