I looked around frantically trying to look for him. He can’t just disappear can he?

“H-He was right here.” I stuttered while pointing to the spot where he laid. Where is he, my head started spinning and my legs collapsed underneath me. Tears stained my face as the realization that the man the killed my father got away. Someone crouched down next to me but I buried my head in my hands before I could see who it was. The person started to rub my back in a soothing way. My tears came to a stop and I wiped away the remaining ones with the back of hands. Slowly I stood up with the help of Sergeant Stead, who was calming me the whole time. My fear and helplessness soon turned into anger and revenge seeking. I looked behind me to see the other officers standing behind me with regret written all over their faces. I shot my head back around and looked back to where he had been laying.

“Seth Adams was lying there, now he is gone.” I muttered to myself. Constable Norman walked over to Sergeant Stead and whispered something in her ear. She nodded her head and he walked back over to Senior Constable Matthews. They split up and went into different directions. Why wasn’t I helping, I looked up to see Sergeant Stead searching the ground trying to find any clues to where he went. I stood8 there watching the trees move in the breeze realizing how much my life has come to a complete stop. My feet started to move without the command of my brain. I walked past tree after tree not noticing where I am. My steps start to get quicker as I move through the forest now dodging the trees that got in my way. Pain shot through my arm as a stray thorn sticking out of a tree cut me. I looked down to see a small drop of blood fall from my arm and spread across a leaf that is lying on the ground. My head snapped around when I heard footsteps behind me. A hand went over my mouth and the other pulled me to the ground.

“Scream or even say a word I will slit your pretty little throat.” Sneered Seth Adams. I nodded my head and he moved his hand from over my mouth. I stayed silent but I could

feel the tears rolling down my cheeks.

“Now, when those measly coppers come” He said and paused for the ‘dramatic’ effect. “I’m gonna shoot them.” He laughed. I cringed at the thought of them lying on the ground, dead.

“And then you, you are gonna get tied to a tree, by me. And I am going to cut both of your wrists and leave you hear to bleed to death.” He said evilly to me. I was terrified of the thought of that was how I was going to die.

“Miss Brown, Where are you?” I heard one of the officers call.

“Yell out to them that you are over here. Do it now.” Seth hissed near my ear. I nodded my head.

“I am over here. I think I found something.” I yelled. Seth raised his fist and it connected with my stomach. I doubled over in pain at the agony that was now shooting through my stomach. More pain struck in my head as it was knocked back by the impact of being punched in the face. I could feel blood dripping down from my now, I am guessing, broken nose. My head started to spin and my legs nearly gave way again, but Seth kept me standing upright.

“Don’t you dare do that again.” He slapped me across the face just to get the point across. I nodded my head and then looked back down at my feet.

“Here they come.” He muttered as I heard footsteps coming closer. I wanted to scream for them to run, but he put his hand back over my mouth to stop me from doing just that. The footsteps got closer and he lifted my head up and raised the gun. I struggled to move but it was impossible as he had me in a death grip. Voices started to become audible but I could only catch a few of the words, shadows appeared next and then the officers. One shot, two shots, three shots. Thats all it took, Sergeant Stead got shot in the stomach, Senior Constable Matthews got shot in the head and Constable Norman got shot just above the heart.
