A man was holding a stake at Erin's chest. Vlad recognised the man immediately: Kalamorphias.

{History Lesson!! Kalamorphias, aka Kala, is a character from A Love Returned who kidnapped Vlad on his eighteenth birthday and caused him to go evil. Basically, Kala is the reason Vlad had to mindwipe everyone. Let's continue...}

Kala looked at Vlad and smirked, "Never thought you'd be seeing me again, did you, Chosen One?"

"I don't think that name's used anymore."

Vlad took one step forward and Kala pushed the stake further into Erin. She winced.

"I don't think I want to stake her, but I do think it's the only way to get your attention."

Erin tilted her head upwards so she could look Vladimir in the eyes, "We're not together anymore."

Vlad's face turned expressionless and Kala laughed like a maniac, "Oh? So he won't mind if you're gone?"

With one hand he held the stake and with the other he grabbed a fist of Erin's hair and pulled backwards, causing her to look directly.

She didn't reply, so he jerked her head back even further, a grin across his face, "I believe I asked a question."

"Of course he'll mind, you idiot!" Erin spat in his face.

"You blood blister!" Kala thrust Erin forwards, causing her to fall face first onto the ground. He raised his arm to throw the stake.

Ingrid looked back and forth between Vlad and Kala as the vampire's a bent backwards, "Vlad..."

Time slowed down for the Chosen One. He saw everything.

The four of them sheltered from the sun by the stone balcony above them, the two pillars on either side. The large wooden doors behind them where Wolfie stood, watching in fear. The bright sky making his eyes water. Or maybe his eyes were watering because he was about to cry.

He saw Ingrid urging him to stop it. He saw Kala raise the stake. He saw Kala let go of the stake. He saw the stake fly towards Erin. And then Erin was gone.

"Stop him, Vlad!" Ingrid shouted, awakening him from his sudden stasis.

"Erin..."

Ingrid pointed to one of the pillars, Erin sat crouched in it's shade. She wasn't dust.

"Help her!" Ingrid shouted again.

Vlad wondered why Ingrid didn't do the helping. And why wasn't Erin dust?

She'd sped away just in time. She must have.

Kala dashed for the stake on the ground but Vlad bet him to it.

Vlad thrust the stake into Kala's back, but it didn't touch his heart.

"A coward's blow!" Kala screamed half in pain and half in rage as he pulled the stake out of his back and threw it where he thought Vlad was.

It wasn't even close to hitting him.

Vlad sped to Kala and knocked the vampire onto his back, but he was up in a second and with vampire speed, he kicked Vlad into the castle wall.

Vlad hit so hard that for a moment his whole body was paralysed. When he could move again, he rubbed his arm, it hurt badly.

Kala approached him. Vlad held out his other arm. White light shot from his palm. He screamed as the power escaped him and Kalamorphias turned to dust.

"Yes!" Ingrid punched the air with her fist. She only stopped when she saw Erin stand up, using the pillar to support her.

Vlad tried to walk to her, but be couldn't for two reasons. One, he was too tired and two, Erin clearly didn't want him to.

"Don't think this changes anything," She hissed, "I'll be gone at sunset."

"Erin," Ingrid got her attention. She was now standing at the door with Wolfie, and she was holding Artur, "Forgetting someone? I love this kid and I'm not letting you take him away."

"Don't you dare, Ingrid."

Vlad sat down on the concrete and watched the two stare at each other. The shadows had all moved, it would be evening soon. He only had a few hours to make Erin stay. But how would he? Maybe the best thing to do was to let her go.

Ingrid steeped inside the house with the toddler and Wolfie pushed the wooden doors until they slammed into place.

Erin shouted curses at Ingrid as she leaned against the pillar, too sore to move.

Vlad glared at her and she narrowed her eyes at him.

"Ingrid won't give him back unless you stay," He talked with a hint of ownership on his tongue.

"Don't you dare force me to stay. There must be some law against it."

"Since when did laws stop you?"

"Oh, I don't know, since I became a breather?"

Vlad shut up after that.

Artur bit Ingrid's arm with his fangs and she dropped him onto the ground, the toddler softened the fall with his powers and began to half walk, half crawl to the window.

"Hey!" She chased after him, but as she did so, Artur began speeding in all different directions around the room.

Wolfie joined in on the game of chasey, accidently knocking a few statues over as his tail wagged back and forth.

Artur stopped at the window closest to where Erin was and snapped his fingers. The red curtains were engulfed by flames and then they became dust.

Ingrid got slightly worried. If he could dust a curtain, it would only be a matter of time before he could dust a vampire. That kid was getting too powerful much too fast.

Artur held his little hands against the window and watched his mother sit against the pillar.

Ingrid made her self comfortable on the couch. She didn't really care where the toddler was as long as there was a barrier separating him and Erin.

Meanwhile, Vlad finally felt that he had the energy to stand up, he did so and slowly walked over to Erin, holding out a hand.

"You can come inside, if you like."

"No," She stared at the sun which was hanging lower in the sky.

"Okay," Vlad said and walked to the doors. Wolfie opened them for him and he disappeared inside the castle.

He'd let Erin go. It was the only thing he could do. But she wasn't taking Artur.
