Chapter 4

Heading back to her room Aurora was relieved to see that her mother hadn't gotten back yet and she could just close her eyes and relax. Did she ruin things with Yuri before by kissing his cheek? He was Russian though, she knew that kisses were common between friends and teammates there, but it was possible she crossed a line. Rolling over to look at her phone, she saw that she had gotten a message from Yuri.

Yuri: Hey Aurora, come up to my room if your free. I finally got rid of Yakov so we can watch a movie or something. Talk soon!

Aurora's heart rate sped up almost instantly, clearly he wasn't turned off by earlier. Quickly responding that she was heading up, Aurora rushed out the door like it was no one's business. Arriving at Yuri's room, he opened the door nervously. Getting rid of Yakov was a challenge, but it seemed even he agreed that Yuri was better off staying in his room with his new friend then prancing around town. Agreeing on a movie the two sat rather closely on the couch together. For Yuri it was sudden but it felt like things were progressing naturally. He wasn't sure if this friendship was turning into something more, but it wasn't normal to want to be this close to someone who was just a friend. When she kissed him before it really did catch him off guard, but he liked it. This time he wanted to be the one to kiss her, that was definitely not a friend thing. It was as if the movie wasn't even playing, after all neither of them were paying attention. The only thing on their minds were how close the two of them were sitting together, pressed up right against the other. Aurora wasn't sure if she should or not, but resting her head against Yuri wouldn't be too unnatural, after all she had cuddled with friends and family before. It's not necessarily a romantic gesture, it just would show how comfortable she was around him, not just the fact she wanted to be as close to him as possible. Taking that risk, she rests her head on Yuri's shoulder, her heart pounding, waiting his response. Yuri feels the sensation of fluttering in his stomach, and it was intense. Not sure how he was supposed to respond, he just does what he wants, which was to hold her hand again. Aurora intertwined her fingers with his, feeling happiness to which she had never experienced before. She looked up at Yuri who had his eyes fixed on the television, his cheeks however were dusted with a gentle blush. Aurora smiled, she didn't know what to say, or if saying anything would ruin this perfect moment. However, her heart was racing too fast, so much to the point that she couldn't keep her mouth shut. "Yuri..." she spoke, causing Yuri to turn to look at her nervously. "W-what?" he asks, trying to remain calm. "I... I think I'm falling in love with you," she says without thinking. Yuri's eyes widened as his face went from a subtle red blush to bright red. He stammered when Aurora realized what she had just said, turning as red as Yuri. Covering her mouth, she pulls back, not believing she had actually said that. Yuri felt as though his heart was about to explode. Love... this concept was something even with training with agape he still couldn't completely grasp. He didn't know what to say, all he knew was that he felt happy, he felt a warmth surging through him. "I-I'm so sorry Yuri... I just..." tears were now forming in her eyes, Yuri just followed his instincts and pulled her tightly into his arms, holding her as close to him as he could. Aurora clutches his clothes tightly in her hand, with her widened eyes the tears just fell. "I don't get this kind of thing honestly... but I like you Aurora... I like you a lot," Yuri speaks, shocking Aurora. She continues to cry as she snuggles into him more. "C-can we just stay like this for a while..." Aurora asks, not ever wanting to pull apart. "Yeah..." Yuri responds, stroking her hair; the thought of moving made his heart ache. He took this chance to return her earlier gesture, placing a kiss on top of her head. Aurora felt butterflies so intense that her tears suddenly stopped. She wanted to remain in his arms forever, but she also had a strong desire to look into his eyes. Taking that chance she pulls back to Yuri's surprise; looking into her eyes he felt embarrassed but couldn't look away. The look of love in Aurora's eyes was filled with passion, her hand brushed through his hair, revealing his whole, vulnerable face. Yuri's face was glowing, he had never let anyone get close like this before and was overwhelmed with too many emotions. Placing his hand over hers, they both leaned forward until their foreheads touched. Their hearts racing incredibly fast, knowing what was coming next. Soft lips were being drawn to the other, eyelids both getting heavy. Slightly parted mouths were almost on each other when the door suddenly opened.
