My name is Journey Monae Taylor, where I'm from people hear that last name and run. My older brother is Jacob Tyrus Taylor, but most people know him as Jay, a well known kingpin in New Orleans. My brother was already in the drug game but when my parents died he felt like it was his responsibility to take care of me so he got more involved in the drug game now he's one of the biggest kingpins in New Orleans. My brother has always been there for me, but sometimes he take it to far. He's like the normal overprotective older brother but times five, now that my dad isn't here he feels like it's his place to interrogate almost every boy I step within 20 feet of. But I love him not matter how annoying he can be because without him I doubt I would be where I am. I attend Duke University and I major in journalism and I also play volleyball.

I was walking through campus on my way to my class when I felt someone pull my hair. I turned around quick ready to punch someone when I realized it was my best friend Chris.
"Boy you get on my nerves, when I punch u right in the face don't be saying nothing." I said as I continued to walk.
"Awww I'm sorry sis I love you." He said as he hugged me.
"No get off of me."
Chris and I have been friends since 6th grade. He had just moved to New Orleans and I decided to go over and talk to him and we have been best friends ever since. He's like my second brother.
"So did your new roommate get here yet?" He asked at we walked to class.
"Nah not yet."
"Let me know if she cute cuz you know I'm looking for a bae." He said before he made a left toward the building his class was in.
Last week they told me that I was getting a roommate. I hope she nice because I don't have time for a another rude ass girl. I'm kinda excited to get a new roommate though I just hope we get along well.
I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket so I took it out to see that my brother was calling me

Jay- wassup sis
Journey- nun wassup wit chu
Jay- nun I'm just making sure u good.
Journey- yea I'm good I'm on my wa-
I felt my phone fell as I bumped into someone.
"My bad I ain't see you there ma."I looked up to see this fine ass boy.
"You good, I'm Journey." I said holding my hand out.
"I'm Au-" he started to say but we heard my brother yelling on the phone.
" Hello"
"Journey who the hell was you talking to?"
"Nobody, I'm call you later I have to get to class bye luv you." I said before hanging up.
"I'm August" he said as we shook hands.
"Nice to meet you August."
"Same to you ma"
I looked down at my phone to see that I had 5 minutes to get to class.
"I'm sorry August but I have to get to class but I hope to see you around." I said before hurrying into the building and up the steps to make it to class on time.

I walked out of the building and made my way back to my dorm. I was so tired I just wanted to go back to my dorm take a shower and watch Netflix. When I got to the door of my dorm room I heard a tv on and I knew that my new roommate was here. I unlocked the door and walked in and saw her laying on her bed in shorts and a tank top while watching some show show on the new smart tv she brought. I guess she was to into the show because she didn't even noticed I walked into the room.
"Hi" I said as she jumped at the sound of my voice.
"Hey I'm Naomi." She said as she sat up to shank my hand.
"I'm Journey." I said as I shook her hand then Chris busted in the door.
"AYOOO JAY SIS IM HUNGRY!" He yelled like a crazy person and he didn't have any shoes on just a tee shirt , some basketball shorts, and some socks.
"Boy I told you about busting in my door and where ya shoes at?" I asked looking at me but he just straight up ignored me and started talking to Naomi.
"Wassup I'm Christopher but you can call me Chris." He said smiling at her. I just rolled my eyes at his crazy self.
"I'm Naomi" she said shaking his hand.
"Nice to meet you" he said back.
"Naomi where you from I can hear ya accent?" I said
"Atlanta"
"That's cool"
"I hear a accent in y'all voice where y'all from?" she asked looking at us.
"New Orleans" we responded at the same time.
"That's nice, How old are you"she asked
"I'm 20 and Chris here is 21 poor baby got left back in 2nd grade "I said as I pinched his cheeks
"Whatever man just make me some food a brotha over here starving"he said then walked out our room I just shook my head.
"So when's your birthday?" I asked
"Uhh I'm 20 and my birthday October 12." She said as I got hype.
"AYEE MY BIRTHDAY THE 8TH." I said
"That's wassup" she said as she smiled
"Ima go take a shower" I told her before grabbing all my things for my shower and leaving the room. After taking my shower I walked over to Chris's dorm and chilled there for a lil bit and we watched Netflix and order food. Then at about 9:45 I was on my way back to my dorm when I heard someone say something to me.
"Wassup ma" I heard then I looked up and saw August
"Wassup wit chu" I said
"Nun what chu doing out here all late?" He asked.
"I just left my brother dorm I'm on my way back to mine, how bout chu?"
"I was just out grabbing sum to eat." He said as he fixed his hat.
"Can I get cha number ma?" He asked before licking his lips.
"Sure" I said before putting my number in his phone and he put his number in mines.
"Ima see you around." I said
"Ard ma see you soon." He said before we went our separate ways. I looked in my phone to see what he saved his contact as and it was:

I just laughed it off and made my way back to my dorm and I saw Naomi sleep. I put my phone on the charger and I soon fell fast asleep.
