[Emery]

"Hello?" a man's voice answered the phone. The voice was soft-- kind.

"Um, hi," I said awkwardly. "Is this Luke Ryans?"

"Yep. Who's this?"

"It's me-- Emery, your sister."

"Em?" his voice was filled with shock, and was a little harsher than before. "I thought you were dead. I haven't heard from you in years."

"I know. I'm sorry about all that, Luke. It all got so complicated, and dangerous." I said and paused.

"I don't even know what to say right now," he chuckled bitterly. "I'm pissed, ya know. But I missed you so freaking much."

"I know. Kiddo, I missed you too. I thought about you everyday. I just didn't wanna drag you into this crazy life. But somethings have come up, and I would really love to have some sort of contact with you again."

"Where have you been? Mom and Dad died and then I lost my big sister too!"

"I have no excuse for that," I admitted. "It wasn't fair of me. But I do have some reasons. Maybe if we met up in person or something I could explain them to you, talk to you..." My voice drifted off.

He sighed. "How far are you away from Lawrence, Kansas?"

"About four hours," I replied.

"Why don't you come over for dinner? I mean stop by my house, I'll text the address to this number, and we can order take out or something."

"I would love that," I answered.

"Good," He paused. "So who have you been with? What have you been doing?"

"It's hard to explain over the phone," I said. "But I've been with these two great guys, Sam and Dean Winchester. We've been investigating things together, traveling across the country. I've learned to hunt some crazy paranormal stuff, kid."

"You believe in all that?"

"I believe it was what killed Mom and Dad," I said. "That's why I left you and Gram. I had to figure out the truth. I killed the monster that murdered them years ago. I just never stopped."

"I think you're crazy," He was silent for a moment. "I want some more explanation soon. Why don't you bring those Winchester guys? Are they with you now?"

"Yeah they are. And only if you don't mind," I said.

"No, bring them by. If you wanna talk in private later we can. Maybe the three of you guys and me and my girlfriend can eat dinner together at my place? And then you and I could talk?"

"Yeah, sure," I said, relived he was on board with all of this. "You have a girlfriend?"

"Yeah, she works with me. Her name's April, we've been together for about a year now. She's great."

"I'm glad to hear it," I said and smiled a bit. "I'm glad you're happy."

"What about you? Any guys?"

"Dean and I are together," I said, and looked at Dean next to me, who heard me and smiled. His smile radiated pride. It made me feel good. "It's a new thing, but we've been good friends for years."

"That's nice," he said. "So fill me in tonight, alright? Does five work?"

"Yeah, perfect," I said. "Thanks for this, Luke."

"Hey, we're family," he said. "Things weren't easy after Mom and Dad. We both had to deal in our own ways."

"I'm sorry my way was so far away from you. I'm sorry it had to be like that."

"Sis, it's alright. But why now?" He asked.

"What?"

"Why do you call now? Of all times? Is something wrong?"

"No," I lied. "Not at all. Things just settled down a bit, and it felt right."

"Oh, okay. Good. I gotta go. See you tonight."

"Bye," I said as he hung up.

Dean looked over at me in silence for a moment. "So you told the family we're together?" He chuckled. I smiled.

"It went pretty well," I said. "He took everything well. You heard the part about going over tonight? He wants us there around five."

"Us?"

"He asked if you and Sam wanted to come," I said.

"Sure," Dean nodded. "If you're sure that's what you want."

"Yeah, it is," I smiled.

Dean took my hand in his. "I'm happy you're happy."

I smiled. "I just don't wanna tell him about selling my soul yet-- or about my whole, messed up life yet. I just wanna see how it goes."

"Alright, I understand," Dean said. "So what do you say we stop by the Bunker for a few hours, tell Sam to get his ass ready, then head out?"

"Sounds good to me," I replied.

"Or do you wanna drive around for a little longer? I know how the back roads can be a little peaceful sometimes."

"We can spare a half hour," I grinned.

Dean cranked up some AC/DC and put the windows down.

And we drove.

"Emery! Dean!" Sam yelled across the Bunker. "You two are gonna make us late."

"Give us a sec, Sammy," I heard Dean say from the other room.

I stood in front of the mirror, in ripped jeans and a tight-fitting maroon sweater. I fussed with my hair, and worried about my makeup. My hair was straight and messy over my shoulders, and my makeup was light. It was my usual look, but I still was self conscious. I haven't seen this kid in eight years. I wanted to be a sister he can be proud of.

I decided to put aside all my worries and gave up. I laced up my combat boots, grabbed my cell phone and went out to meet the boys by the door.

I walked towards them, and I saw Dean, bent over laughing, probably because of something Sam said or did. It seemed the only person in the world besides me that could make Dean laugh like that was his brother. Sammy really made him happy.

I only wished I could have a relationship like that with my brother.

Dean was dressed in a dark pair of jeans and a black t-shirt that I could tell was made of dressier material. It was probably the closest thing Dean owned to a dress shirt.

He tried to dress up a bit-- just a little bit-- to meet my brother.

The thought automatically made me smile.

Sam was dressed in jeans and a long sleeved shirt that looked just as nice.

"You two ready?" I asked as I walked over, still smiling.

"You look good, babe," Dean grinned and put his hand around my waist.

"Thanks," I giggled a bit. "You guys look like you cleaned up."

"We tried," Sam gently smiled. "Just wanna make you happy."

"Even if we gotta ditch the flannel," Dean grinned.

"Well, you two look good, as always," I said happily. "You ready to hit the road?"

They nodded. I shot Dean a pleading look. He tossed me the keys to the Impala.

"Yes!" I laughed.

"Just be careful," Dean said cautiously.

"Always am, babe," I winked.

Sam laughed. "Man, Em, you can convince this guy to do just about anything in two seconds."

Dean smiled as we walked out the door. "Oh, yeah, she can,"
