[Emery]
I trusted Dean. I really did.
But I also knew him. And I knew how unreliable and desperate he gets when someone he loves is in danger.
Plus, he's very bad at lying to me.
I knew he wasn't going on some stupid ghost hunt from the moment he left. Something felt off. I thought I would let him go have his day, try to save me, probably fail, and move on. No harm, no foul. But he actually sounded freaked on the phone. He sounded like he was about to go into something way too dangerous.
I wasn't gonna sit around while those two brothers got themselves into trouble.
I sat down at a table in the Men of Letter's bunker, my laptop in front of me.
"Alright," I said to myself. "Let's figure out where those freakin' Winchesters are."
I pulled out my phone and checked Dean's GPS location based on where his phone was. I figured Dean, knowing next to nothing about technology, would forget to turn the tracking off.
Sam was smart enough to turn his off. But within a few minutes, I saw that Dean's location was in Springfield, Illinois.
"Why would he be there?" I thought aloud.
I thought of who Sam and Dean would call if they needed information. The only person that came to mind was Kevin. I called him.
"Hey, Emery," he said when he picked up.
"Hey, Kev. How you been?"
"Decent. What's up?"
"I need to know if the boys called you," I said.
He hesitated. "Yeah... but I'm not supposed to talk about it."
"Kevin, this is serious. You don't know the whole situation, but I need to know if you told them anything. Anything about Springfield, Illinois?"
"I told them that's where I thought Crowley was."
"Crowley? Shit." I muttered.
"What's wrong?"
"Kevin, where exactly in Springfield?"
"I'll text you the address. But, Em, what's going on?"
"Kevin, I promise I'll fill you in later but I gotta go. They're in trouble."
"Alright, I'll talk to you soon. Be careful, Emery."
"Bye, Kev." I said as I stood up.
I ran into my room where I kept some spare weapons. I grabbed two angel blades and a pistol, not that that would help against demons. But I rarely leave the house without a gun anymore.
I got a notification on my phone. It was a text from Kevin with the address the guys were at.
I thought about transportation. When I ran to the store earlier, I just got a taxi. But no cab would take me that far. Plus, if I was gonna get to Sam and Dean before they did anything stupid, I was gonna have to speed.
So I walked out of the Bunker, a duffel bag filled with weapons over my shoulder, and went off to find a car I could hot wire.
[Dean]
Sam and I pulled up to an abandoned warehouse at the address Kevin gave us. It was just getting dark, and already I saw two demons, both men in suits, guarding a main entrance to the building.
