So Dean and I slept together. It might have been a mistake, but it turned out perfect. It was the push we needed.
And that's how we ended up here. Every minute of my life was ticking down.
To catch anyone up, we got out of bed, had our sad, bitter, moment in the kitchen and then decided to go out for some food. I also determined I would find my little brother before I died.
I went back to my room to change into a pair of ripped jeans and a sweatshirt. It was getting cold outside this time of year-- October.
It occurred to me that this would probably be my last autumn I get to experience. It was always my favorite season.
On my way back out, I ran into Sam in the hallway.
"Hey," he said gently. "How you doing?"
"Alright," I replied honestly. "I appreciate it, Sam, but I'll be okay. No need to worry about me."
He patted my shoulder. "Okay, just making sure."
"Thanks," I said. "Dean and I are going out for a little drive. You wanna tag along?"
"I think you and Dean should get some alone time," Sam smiled.
I chuckled and gently punched his arm. "He told you, didn't he?"
"When he woke up, he came into my room, gossiped a bit," Sam laughed. "Honestly, it was all good things. You really make him happy. I don't mean 'woah I just got laid' happy, either. Like he really cares about you."
"Thanks, Sam," I said. "I'll see you later."
I met up with Dean in the Impala with a smile on my face. I made Dean Winchester laugh and go gossip to his little brother. I liked that.
"So," he said as he drove to a local diner. "You wanna talk about last night?"
"What did you think about it?" I asked.
"I thought it was good, really good," Dean smirked. He paused. "But it also felt like a change in our relationship, ya know? Like we kinda broke all the tension. Like we finally did it right."
I nodded and grinned a bit. "Yeah, I know what you mean."
"So, what comes next?" Dean asked. "What do you want to come next for us?"
"Look, the whole reason we split was because you didn't want a long-term relationship and because we're in the life, ya know? There's no time for stuff like that, for worrying about someone else. Did any of that change?"
"Whether we date or not or whatever, I'm gonna worry about you. I'm gonna care. We aren't together and you just sacrificed yourself for Sam and I. There's always gonna be that fierce protection, because of the care and the worry and the love."
"But do you want an actual relationship?"
"I wanna be with you," he said. "I love you. I really do. I wasn't just drunk. And if being in a committed relationship with you would make you happy, then I'm in. If a relationship means I get to kiss you when I want and come home and sleep with you, I'm in. No regrets. I want that so bad. I'm yours-- I'm in."
