[Emery]

A little while later, I was back in the car with the boys. I was driving to the Bunker, with Dean next to me and Sam in the backseat.

"So, you think it went well?" Dean asked.

"I think so," I smiled sadly. "We're gonna stay in touch, and he's probably gonna stop by for lunch or something next week. It'd be nice to start a relationship. I mean I told him about selling my soul-- well not all the details, but that I would be dying soon."

They both looked shocked. "Well I think it's good you told him, but that's not gonna happen." Sam said.

"Can we just not talk about it too much?" I sighed.

"Whatever you want, babe," Dean said. "But just know you're not gonna die on our watch."

"So, your brother seems like a good kid," Sam said.

"Yeah, he does," I smiled a bit.

"Besides him trashing hunting," Dean mumbled.

"He just doesn't understand why I would leave like I did, that's all," I said. "But I do appreciate you guys standing up for me, for this life we got."

"We made it sound pretty damn good," Dean smiled a bit. "If only it was."

"But hey," I said. "The one thing we got right is that we're family. Nothing changes that."

I saw both boys smile. I cranked up the music and we rode back home in pretty good spirits.

[Dean]

That night, after having a few drinks with Sam, Emery and I Iaid next to each other in silence on my bed. I could see Em's gears turning.

I tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "What's going on in that head of yours?"

"I'm not sure," she said. "Just can't seem to stop thinking about... everything."

"Well you can talk to me about anything," I said as I gently kissed her cheek.

"It's nothing I haven't said before," she said. "I'm just having trouble grasping the idea that I'm gonna lose all this."

"You're not," I said firmly. "We are not gonna let you go that easy. Sam and I are gonna be annoying your ass for many years to come."

She smiled a bit and laid her head on my bare chest. "I'd love that,"

"And after we figure all this out, we'll go on some long vacation. We'll hit the beach or something like that. I've never been there, but I think you'll like it. Or we could go see some big city, like New York, or even the frigging Grand Canyon. We can go anywhere, just forget about hunting for a while. But if we happen to run into a vamp or monster, we can kill the son of a bitch, and just keep going." I smiled, picturing a future I knew we might not get.

Em laughed softly, and her eyes lit up. "Let's do it, babe." She kissed me hard. "Let's do it now."

"Now?"

"Why not? What's stopping us?"

"We gotta figure everything out first," I said. "Figure out how to save you."

"Or we could just do all that good stuff now," she smiled. "Just live now. Figure it out as we go, or don't. But just do what we want for a while."
