A/N: Madelyn^^^^

Mikey didn't know what made him think that Luke would stay long enough to go to school the next day, but for some reason he did. Then again Luke was an unpredictable person, much like himself at times. Getting up he changed into a clean tank top and slipped on a loose baggy flannel that was most likely Raph's, but Mikey didn't give it a second look before putting it on. He brushed his teeth and took his meds, brushed his hair and finished getting ready to walk out the door with the rest of his siblings. He was unusually quiet that morning mainly because he was trying to figure out when Luke left. This morning? Maybe even last night after everyone went to sleep, that's what was worrying him the most. He knew Luke could take care of himself, for the most part, what worried him is him walking home at 1 in the morning downtown. If it was Jason or Madelyn Mikey wouldn't have gave it a second thought. He wouldn't have to worry about them walking back over to the rich neighborhoods, he wouldn't have to worry about them getting jumped or mugged. If only if Luke had a phone.
"Hey Mikester," Jason's giddy voice greeted him at his locker.
"Hey Jay," he greeted back as he started to put his locker combo in.
"So...guess what?"
"What?"
"I asked Madelyn to go to the homecoming dance with me," Jason said excitedly, he was practically bouncing in place. If Madelyn saw him, she wouldn't let him live it down.
"That's great Jason," Mikey gave him a smile.
Honestly the only thing Mikey could think about right now is Luke walking back home alone, in the dark.
"I know right?! You should go dude, we'll have so much fun!" Jason was too caught up in the moment to realize something was wrong.
"You mean you and Madelyn will have a so much fun. I'm not going just to be a third wheel."
"You won't be a third wheel, what about Donnie?"
"Donnie is most likely going with April."
"Raph?"
Was he really that clueless?
"Um, your sister, dude."
"Oh," Jason frowned, "since when?"
"Since all eternity," Mikey simply replied, lifting an eyebrow at Jason's obliviousness.
"Don't look at me. I had no clue," Jason said throwing up his arms dramatically.
"How? She's your sister?"
Jason shrugged, "Big house, only 2 siblings."
Mikey shook his head, "small house, 4 siblings."
"At least you have one sister."
"At least you don't have brothers," Mikey shot back playfully as they started to walk to their first class.
"Dude, brothers would be nice when you only live with girls."
"Not older brothers," Mikey countered.

He didn't go to school that day. Nothing could make him go, not even the decency of seeing Mikey. His mom, thankfully, wasn't home. Her car wasn't parked up front either; and their car isn't hard spot, broken windows, and dented surface made that possible. With his clothes bunched up in his arms Luke had to pass a couple of guys, that were all too honestly were probably trading drugs, to reach the steps. Maintenance guys were working on the front door and some of the buttons.
"Mornin'," one of the men directed Luke's way, which he responded with a soft  mutter back.
When he made it to his floor the number 8 came into view, hanging sideways, like always. The door was cracked open, for most people this would alarm them, for Luke, it was normal. pushing the door open he was immediately greeted by the stench of weed and decaffeinated coffee.
"Mom? Are you home?" Luke's voice echoed across the apartment.
With no reply back he turned to shut the door and lock it, throwing his clothes aside on the couch as he sat down. He only missed a day or two so far in the school year so he figured one more day wouldn't hurt. He flopped down on the couch as his stomach indicated he was hungry. He didn't have to look to know they didn't have any food. Switching through the channels their old tv made a weird buzzing sound. It was only 8, Mikey and his siblings should have made it to school by now, which means Mikey knew Luke left without telling him anything. He kind of felt bad, but then the other half of him didn't care.
By 10 he convinced himself to get up, stripped off Mikey's hoodie (adjusting the cropped tight 'undershirt'), he laid it gently over the end of the ratty couch then went to find some semi-clean clothes. Mikey's only seen him shirtless once, and that was in the dark on his couch and he didn't get that chance to notice the strips that held back his chest. Even if he did, he doubted Mikey understood what they were, and apparently didn't care enough to ask.
Getting his Brooklyn hoodie-like shirt he headed for the shower, making sure the front door was locked before hand.
