It was eleven o’clock on a Saturday morning, and Jace and Katherine had still not gotten out of bed. Early in the morning they were at it again and by now they were exhausted. Katherine could not stop smiling like a Cheshire cat, and giggled when Jace began caressing her side. She opened her eyes and stared at his blue ones, noticing that they were getting dark again.

“Jace, haven’t we had enough?” Katherine asked, a smirk on her face. Jace chuckled and pulled her closer to him. He kissed her passionately, his fingers massaging her scalp, which caused Katherine’s body to become hot. Jace seemed to sense this and chuckled again as he began to hover over her. He tore his lips from hers and sucked her neck.

“Jace, please. I’m tired,” Katherine said, despite her senses becoming alive at Jace’s touch.

“I don’t think you are,” Jace murmured against her throat, a moan escaping Katherine’s lips when Jace’s kisses moved lower. Before he could go further, Katherine called his name sternly. Annoyed, Jace lifted himself to look at hers and frowned down at her.

“Katherine, can’t you see I’m busy?” he said, his voice so hoarse, it was as if he rubbed it against sandpaper. Katherine fought the urge to laugh. She ruffled his hair and let her hand land on his cheek.

“I have something for you,” she said.

“Can’t it wait,” said Jace, landing on top of her and devouring her neck again. Katherine giggled and tried to get him off her.

“Jace please. This present is very special to me and I want to give it to you.”

“Babe, you’re giving me something better already,” Jace mumbled against her chest. Katherine closed her eyes enjoying what Jace was doing to her body, but she wanted to give present to him. Surely after he saw it they could get back to where they left off.

“Jace, I promise you, if you let me give you this give, I am yours forever. You can do whatever the hell you want with me and I won’t complain. I’ll let you be the pirate,” Katherine coaxed seductively, It seemed to have worked because Jace gave her a look.

“Well, when you put it like that,..Why are you still here, go show me what you want to show me,” happy for the release, Katherine got out the bed moving to the side the room. Jace smirked watching her in her birthday suit. She took something out of a bag and Jace lifted the sheets for her to rejoin him, her hand occupied with something large in it. Jace sat up and looked at the gift wrapped object she held out before him.

“For you, beloved husband of mine.” Jace frowned, what was the occasion?

“What’s this about? It’s not our anniversary,” he said, taking the present from her hands and shaking against his ear. Katherine giggle and waited for him to open it. Jace smiled at her before ripping the gift wrapper. A white box revealed itself and Jace opened it and took out a slightly heavy object. Jace frowned and set his face when he saw what was inside. He looked at Katherine and back at the present.

“An hourglass?” he asked, still staring at it like he was holding a fetus.

“Not just any hourglass. This one is the time equal to one month,” Katherine corrected him, her heart warming and excited when his eyes widened when she explained the hourglass.

“A month? How is that even possible? This thing would have to fall grain by grain.” There was silence in the room, with Jace looking intently at the hourglass and Katherine watching him watching it. He turned the hourglass upside down and waited. Then he looked at Katherine.

“Is it broken?” he asked. She shook her head.

“No, it looks like nothing is happening, but really the sand s are falling at a really slow rate until a whole month goes by and the top part is empty.”
