The baby was fine, but the situation was delicate. Because Katherine had been in an unhealthy state, Dr. Halifax emphasized the need for Katherine to eliminate stress, otherwise she would risk losing the baby. Stress was abound, it can only be when Jace was around. Katherine wasn’t over his cheating; they hadn’t even begun to sort out that problem. Great remarkable sex was not going solve problems. Another issue was that Katherine had to tell Jace she was pregnant, he had to know. If he finds out at the time she starts showing, there would be hell to raise.

Not tonight though, it was Jace’s night as tonight was the Enterprise Advertising Annual Ball. Katherine removed the box lid before lifting up the dress. Her eyes widened at seeing the dress, it was gorgeous! It had to be expensive, that was Jace’s style. She held it against herself to get the feel. It was a ruby red neck backless dress. Katherine frowned, the dress was too revealing for her liking, now that she was pregnant, she didn’t want to wear anything like this.

Jace came out from the walk-in closet to, buttoning his crisp white Armani shirt. He walked over to Katherine and presented his wrist to her.

“Could you tie my cuffs, would you sweetheart,” he requested.

“Sure,” Katherine replied monotonously. She worked the other cuff when she was done with the first, ignoring the feel of Jace’s gaze searing her skin.

“Okay, done!” she said, eager to get away from him. Jace wouldn’t have it though, he caught her by the waist before she could get far enough, pull her right up against him.

“Do you like the dress?” he asked.

“Jace, what happened the motel…it was…it was…nice…”

“The greatest sex I have ever had,” he growled against her neck, his hands tugging at her towel.

“But it shouldn’t have happened. I made a mistake,” Katherine said loudly enough for Jace to hear her and to stop him from roaming her body with his hands. It worked, he stopped. He looked at Katherine in that stare that she had grown accustomed to when he didn’t get his way.

“We need to talk about…about what happened in your office the other day…we can’t move on until we iron that out.”

“You’re bringing that up again? Why?”

What? Was he serious? Stay cool, stay cool, stay—

“I just feel angry and hurt and guilty…I mean how can I sleep with you when we haven’t even sorted out what…what I saw…in your…office…did you still sleep around when I was away…?

Shit! She just had to ask that question, didn’t she? Guilt gnawed at Jace, why did she always manage to ask the questions to which the answers would damage her? Jace looked away, removing his hands from her.

“Define ‘around’,” he said softly not looking at her, rocking on his heels. But it didn’t matter, he answered the question. Katherine cried even more, her hands covering her eyes.

“You son of a bitch! You bastard! I can’t believe you!” she yelled. Then she gave him that hateful look, causing Jace to flinch.

“I’m not going to your stupid ball with you. Go with one of your sluts!”

“What? Katherine, let’s talk about this…no, wait, hold that thought—let’s talk about this after the ball. Okay, I promise, no sex, just talking. Promise, promise!”

“No, I’m out of here. Where’s my phone I’m calling peter.” At the mention of peter’s name, Jace saw red. How dare she even mention that prick’s name; how dare she call him when they had somewhere to go. Katherine gasped when Jace violently snatched the phone from her hand and threw it against the wall! She looked at her now scrappy phone and looked back at Jace with her mouth agape. He wore a blank expression and moved to stand close to her.
