The drive to nowhere has been particularly long, and yet, Katherine felt as though she couldn’t get away far enough, fast enough from the memory of Jace on top of his colleague, along with her naked as they were lost in throes of passion together. When she asked him if there were other women that he had cheated on her with, he just gave a nonchalant not knowing how many there were, as if to say there were really were that many. She guessed she had cried for a good many hours and only stopped when there were no tears coming out.
How could he do this? Why did he do this? What had she done? She always made sure that he was happy, she made sure nothing went wrong or jeopardized their marriage, she always put him first as she hoped he’d put her first. But clearly, all this time, it had not been the case. All this time she had been played for a fool and now she came out the loser. A big, pitiful loser! And Jace being Jace, of course, came out the winner.
Without a second thought, she turned into the driveway of a motel and stopped once she’d found a parking. She got out the car, heading the reception area. Once she got herself a room, she went back to her car and took out her luggage. Defeat and hopelessness were a daunting thing, and those weren’t the only things plaguing Katherine at the moment. So many questions circulated her mind as if taunting about the situation she found herself in, adding pressure as there was a deadline of things. She should have known that her eyes would somehow supply her with a fresh new batch of tear as she collapsed onto the bed and heaved, her body shaking uncontrollably from the pain that was coursing all over her body.
She never knew that she would one day wonder what death would be like, how it would feel to no longer live. Because right at this moment, living was a painful and traumatizing experience.
“Jace how could you do this to me!” she cried into the mattress.
“What did I ever do wrong? Why wasn’t I enough? Oh God! What have I done wrong? Why wasn’t I enough? ”she called out to anyone who would listen and maybe give her some answers as the reason behind severing what she thought was a good marriage. It just made no sensed to her and that only prolonged her agony.

The woman looking back at Katherine in the mirror was someone she never met before. This woman looked like she had seen better days. Her hair was disheveled, her skin was grey and sagging and there were at least three bags underneath each eye. Katherine had never seen anybody look so ugly.
“This is why he wanted somebody else. Look at me, I look disgusting,” she whined, her voice crackling in the process, floodgates of tears readying themselves to be released. The ring of her cell phone caused her to wince in fright. She hardened her face at the sound of the phone ringing, thinking that it was the devil himself. How dare he even bother? Why would he care? He pretended to care; he took her for a fool all this time, all these years. What was she supposed to do?
Ignoring the ring of her cell phone, she stripped her clothes and entered into the shower, making no movements to wash herself. This was the bit of calm she could get; to sink herself in the waters that sprinkled at shouted lightly, giving her a semblance of peace, of a space without pain, but only for a little. At least in the show, she could cry in peace, not as if there was someone tearing her apart flesh by flesh. Katherine moved her hands over her body, as if trying to splay away the new evil that has plagues her life recently. When her hands landed on her stomach, there was no gesture of waving away evil. Instead, her hands stayed there and stroked that area softly. It was that moment that Katherine had decided that of very part of her body she hated, this part she still loved because inside was something special, someone special.
Katherine closed her eyes, the water fresh as it splashed and wetted her body, her hand protectively over her belly.
“You will save me,” Katherine whispered, swallowing some of the water that went inside her mouth. There was pain, but there was hope as well. There was a life inside of her, a life made by her and Jace, out of love and happiness and she realized that she would never regret those moment with Jace. She did not know what the future held, but she knew the little life inside her belly was her future and her baby would be with her wherever she went.

Peter was not able to sleep that night. It has been four days since he last heard from Katherine. The last time he had spoken to her was her telling him that she was pregnant, news Peter was not sure he was happy to hear about. Not that he had time to make sense of those feelings, his mind was on figuring out why Katherine hadn’t shown up to work and why she was ignoring his calls. Should he call Jace and ask about her? At this rate, the managing director was not happy with Katharine’s behavior; he even threatened to fire her. Of course, Peter had been quick to defend her lack of appearance, hinting, not saying that Katherine was pregnant. Mr. Edwin, the managing director understood under duress and vowed that he would take action only after he spoke to Katherine face to face. Peter was polishing some old golden teacups he bought in one antique store. He rubbed the utensils vigorously with the cloth, but his mind was far from peaceful. Why was Katherine missing work? Why was she ignoring his calls? Doesn’t she know by now that when she does that she makes him worry into a frenzy? Doesn’t she know by now that Peter is very quick when it comes to worrying and involving himself whoever she is concerned?
He began relaxing his face and polishing slower when he realized that his face was hardened into a scowl. Dammnit! What the hell was going on with Katherine? Dammit to hell, he didn’t care anymore. He would call Jace, and he would call him now at eleven o’clock in the middle of the night to find out what the hell is going on! Friends or not, Peter could put up with Jace for Katherine’s sake. He got up abruptly from his chair to go an fetch his phone when it rang then. Peter stopped in his tracks, that were weird. He snapped himself out of it and walked over to pick up his phone.
“Hello?” he answered in a gruff and impatient tone.
“Peter,” It was Jace, Peter noted. He didn’t realize that he was scowling then.
“Jace, what can I do for you?” he asked, in a low and monotonous voice. Jace sighed on the other and of the line.
“Look, Peter, I know this is going to sound strange, but i just wanted to find out if you have seen of spoken to Katherine in the past four days?”
At the question, Peter’s scowled was stonier and panic began to set in, his heart beating fast.
“No, why? What’s going on? Is everything okay? Is Katherine okay? Is she in trouble?”Peter asked one question after another in panic.
“Peter calm down. Everything is fine…I hope. Look, we had a fight and she left. She refuses to take my calls and I just need to know that she is okay since she refuses to talk to me. I had hoped she said something to you.”
“No. I have been trying to call her as well, but she wouldn’t take my calls either. I’m beginning to worry,” Peter confessed, his heartbeat slowed down, but not back to normal speed. Katherine and Jace had a fight? About what? What could they have fought about that she would not take anybody’s calls? It wasn’t good for her to do this, she was pregnant as it is and if she was out there all alone, she needed to be with somebody.
“I see,” replied Jace, “well, I guess she’ll have to talk to us some time. I’ll call Miranda and some of her friends from her gym to find out what’s happening. Don’t worry too much Peter; she’s ignoring everybody out of anger. Okay, good night.” With that, the call was disconnected, leaving Peter in absolute confusion. Jace didn’t sound too concerned about Katherine, which made Peter suspicious of the real issue at hand. And it also made him worry about Katherine even more. Where was she if her own husband didn’t know?
“Where the hell are you Kathy-Anne?” Peter whispered. He would call her again tomorrow, because he would lose his mind if he didn’t know what was happening with her. If by tomorrow she didn’t answer her phone…
“Well, I’ll cross that bridge when I get there,” Peter said softly, his mind never leaving Katherine for the rest of the night.
