A week after Jace and Katherine had an argument—well, more like Jace had an argument with Katherine, Jace had been finding solace at Whitney’s place for the few days. He needed a release and Whitney gave it to him. Some nights were available for him and Whitney to spend together and other nights not. Like today, he and Whitney snuck out the office during lunch time and retreated at her place. Jace stared at the ceiling and caressing Whitney’s bare back while Whitney snored on his chest. They probably wouldn’t show up back in the office, they were both too spent to even get out of bed. Why are you doing this a voice taunted Jace. As he thought, he could not come up with a plausible answer as to why he ran off to sleep with other women. Whitney was not the first one, then again he didn’t have a line of mistresses, he made sure of that.

Whitney stirred and cuddled closer to him. Jace’s hands went up to her golden hair and massaged her scalp. By then, Whitney’s one eye, opened.

“What it is it?” she said hoarsely. Jace didn’t bother to turn to look at time. As far as he was concerned, they were staying in until it was time for him to go back to his wife. No seriously, why are you doing this? Whitney is not only a good wife, but an amazing lover. Why are you doing this, pal? Jace closed his eyes and ignored the voice in his head. You don’t have to prove anything anymore, women and men know you’re the hottest shit around, so why do you have to whore yourself around?

“is everything okay, baby?” Whitney cooed. She lifted herself on one elbow and kissed Jace slowly on the lips. Jace kissed her back, cupping her face in his one hand. She was such an excellent kisser, he could kiss her for days.  When they pulled apart, Jace smiled sweetly at her and leaned up to kiss her shoulder. Whitney sighed contently the feel of Jace’s lips on her body and plopped on her back.

“We’re staying in, aren’t we?” she asked him, a smirk on her lips. Jace chuckled, now they had a routine.

“That we are, my dear.” They remained silent, content and in each other’s arms as the time passed.

“You should return to Katherine. We wouldn’t want her to start getting suspicious now, would we?” commented Whitney. Jace chuckled at Whitney’s thoughtfulness.

“Tired of me already?”

“I’ll never be tired of you. You know I love you, Jace.” At Whitney’s confession, Jace’s smile fell. He shifted to look at the blonde woman next to him and gave her and disapproving look.

“Whitney, you know that this is nothing but —”

“I know Jace, I know. But I was not able to help myself this time. I love you, even if didn’t want to.”

“I’m not leaving my wife for you.”

“I don’t expect you to.” Jace got out of Whitney’s bed and searched for his clothes. He dressed up and watched her, who still in bed, not dressed.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Jace said unhappily. Whitney’s heart retched. She hoped this didn’t mean he’d dump her. Why did she have to confess her feelings? Jace took his car keys and made his way to the door.

“Jace, wait!”

He stopped at the door, but didn’t turn around. He allowed Whitney to turn him though when she had reached him. He looked down at her, giving her a hard stare.

“What?” he asked dryly. Whitney didn’t like that she had made him mad. She really should have kept her mouth shut.

“I’m sorry. Pleased don’t be mad at me. I won’t say things like that again, I promise, just please don’t dump me. I won’t overstep my boundaries again,” Whitney said almost begging him. Jace’s face softened and he bent down to kiss Whitney on the lips, before placing on last kiss on her cheek.
