Christianity is at #1 with approximately 32% of the world'd population
Islam is at #2 with approximately 21% of the world's population
Non-Religious is at #3 with approximately 13% of the world's population
Hinduism is at #4 with approximately 12% of the world's population
Chinese Traditional is at #5 with approximately 6% of the world's population
Buddhism is at #6 with approximately 5% of the world's population
Ethnic/Folk is at #7 with approximately 4% of the world's population
African Traditional is at #8 with approximately 2% of the world's population
Sikhism is at #9 with approximately 3% of the world's population
Spiritism is at #10 with approximately 2% of the world's population
Judaism is at #11 with approximately 0.1% of the world's population
Fun Facts:
-There has been a recent decline in Christianity, at least in the United States, as more and more people are becoming atheist
-Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world (as well as one of the most misunderstood), along with some reports of Mormonism rising as well
-There are five (not two) main branches of Islam
-Mormons are prohibited from drinking tea, coffee, or alcohol
-Jehovah's Witnesses aren't allowed to receive blood transfusions
-Out of all the major religions, white evangelical Protestants are the least supportive of gay marriage, while non-religious people are the most supportive of support gay marriage
-Jesus is a highly revered prophet in Islam
-In some religions, you don't have to be religious to get into the nice afterlife
I think it's important to understand the other world religions, no matter what religion you may be. It's a good way to get to know the world better and understand people. It doesn't mean you have to convert, but it's just something to consider. For example, LaVeyan Satanism sounds extremely intriguing, so I'm looking into picking up The Satanic Bible to take a look.
