So know it was time to continue the quest. The only problem was that the next location on the map was at the completely opposite side of the country, to be more specific, Arizona.
"It would take us days to arrive there by car or bus." Katie said, while licking her vainilla ice cream, you were eating chocolate ice cream because chocolate is THE BEST, keeps away dementors and all. (Sorry, mixing fandoms.)
"Then, how?" You asked "Its not like we have enough money to go by plane."
"Or that's what we thought." Connor replied.
"What do you mean?" You asked him.
"Remember that bag with golden drachmas my dad left us?" He said, the rest of you nodded. "Well," he continued "There where not only golden drachmas in there"
"Mortal money?" Travis guessed.
"Not only mortal money" Connor answered.
"Then what was in there?" Katie asked.
Connor turned around and started searching for something in his backpack, finally he took out four rectangular pieces of paper and placed them on top on the table. "Here we have four plane tickets with the destination of Springerville, Arizona the closest town to the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest." He explained.
"Springerville?" Katie asked.
"Does it even has an airport?" Travis asked back.
"Does it even exist?" Katie asked again.
While they were discussing that you asked. "Apache?"
"Okey everyone," Connor said "I got your answers here" he pointed to his head. "Yes Springerville exists, its a small town in Arizona with a small airport called 'Springerville Municipal Airpot', it is also the closest town to the next monster hideout, and yes (Y/N), Apache, that's the name of the forest."
"Since when you know all that?" Travis asked.
"Since I red the Springerville tourist guide" he answered while he took a brochure out of his backpack.
"Wow, I didn't knew you could read" you said and laugh, Connor slapped you (softly) at the back of your head.
"Aw" you said and faked a flinch, you hit him harder in return, he rubbed the back of his head.
Katie laugh a little"So, when does the plane leaves?" She asked.
"In an hour" Travis said taking the tickets.
"Then what are we waiting?" She said, and run towards the subway.
~~~~ Time skip brought to you by a hot Latino also known as Leo Valdez~~~~~~~~~
After more than 6 hours of waiting, being inside a plain, and walking from the airport to this little town 'Springerville', the four of you were more than exhausted. It was around midnight, and the town was dessert, if it wasn't from the music and light coming from a bar at the corner you would have thought no one lived there. After being in New York, the town seem so out of place, old, small, and lonely.
"Now what?" You asked, while sitting on the sidewalk.
Connor sat next to you, "I have no idea, we should search for a-" he was interrupted by a growl at the distance. Suddenly all of you were awake.
"What was that?" Travis asked, tacking his weapon out, you took your bow and arrows out too, being a daughter of Apollo you preferred that instead of swords or knives.
The creature growled again, it sounded like... "Was that a lion?" you asked.
"It sounded like one," Connor replied, "we should go check." The need of checking was gone by a creature walking in your direction, let's just say it wasn't a lion. It was bigger, way bigger. His front part do looked like a normal lion the only thing was the goat head at his back, and the snake. The creature growled on more time, but now it wasn't only sound what came out, fire did too.
"A-a chi-chimeeera" a freighted Katie said, then passed out.
"Well she is a fierce fighter," Connor said sarcastically.
"No time for jokes Connor, she's scared and tired. Travis place her somewhere safe" you said, Travis did as ordered.
"Okey guys, did someone knows how to beat this monster?"
"We fight it." Connor said raising his sword, "Tree against one, we got this."
"Yeah" Travis agreed.
"No, did someone remember the myth? we need a plan." You said, but it was too late. The Chimera was less that 10 feet away.
"No time." Travis said gripping his sword. "Connor you the snake, I will go for the goat, and (Y/N) you got the lion" before you could complain that that was a completely unfair plan, he and Connor attacked. Suddenly adrenaline and anxiety filled your body, not only you friends were in fighting of a fire breathing creature, but you had to deal with the most difficult part. 'Here goes nothing' you thought and aimed your arrows.
The arrow flew directly into the lion's right eye, it growl and attacked but you quickly threw another arrow and blinded him completely. The lion wasn't happy, it hit, growled, and attacked everything. Travis and Connor weren't doing really good, Connor did cut the snake's head, but the goat was breathing fire, and the creature was attacking with its rear legs, and both of them were injured. Travis wasn't walking correctly, 'his burned' you realized, and Connor had an ugly snake bite on his arm. You diced to blind the rest of the creature's eyes so that then you could have time to plan something that would work.
"Guys duck!" You shouted, they did, and suddenly the goat had two arrows sticking out of its eyes. You took the guys by their arms, and lead them to the back of a building.
"Who do we defeat it, did someone remember the myth?" Connor asked.
You tried to think, but you couldn't concentrate, there was a name but...
"Guys its following our sent, its getting closer" Travis said.
"He was ridding Pegasus..." you said, thinking harder and making an effort to concentrate.
"Who?" Connor asked.
"The hero" you said, "he was ridding Pegasus when he defeated the monster"
"Almost here" Travis said.
"Shut up Travis, your only making it worse" you told him.
"(Y/N), concentrate, what does the hero did next?" Connor asked you.
"I don't know, I'm not a daughter of Athena" You replied, but Connor placed his good hand on you right shoulder and looked at you directly on your eyes.
"But you're intelligent." he said "You know the answer just concentrate, you can do it." Having him that close, seeing the intense look of his eyes, the only thing you could do was close you eyes to don't get distracted on his, and think, and think, and think.
Suddenly the answer came to you. "It choked"
"How?" Connor asked.
"The hero placed something on its mouth, it melted, and the Chimera suffocate." You said, proud of your answer. Connor smiled, and kissed your cheek.
"See, I told you you could do it" he said, you were blushing really hard at this moment.
"Guys sorry for interrupting your moment but I don't want to be roasted Travis, so do you know what to do?" Travis asked.
"I know what to do," Connor said not breaking eye contact with you, then he looked at Travis "you and (Y/N) distract it, I need to get something" then he ran.
"What?" Travis asked.
"Let's just do as he said" you told him and attacked the Chimera again. You and Travis tried your best to not get burned, or bitten, or scratched. It seemed like ages, but suddenly Connor arrived and pulled you away while the Chimera was trying to gain balance after Travis cut one of its legs.
"Take this and throw it a his throat" he said.
"What?" You looked at him confused.
"You have the best aiming, you'll do it better" he gave you a piece of metal, lead to be exact. You took a deep breath, and the moment when the creature turned and open its mouth, you threw the lead.
Connor was right, let's just said you nailed it. After the Chimera chocked and died, but Connor cut its heads just to be sure. Then Travis led you to where he had left Katie, when you arrived there, you sat on the floor next to her, and see if she was okey.
"She is good, just asleep." You told the guys.
"Now what do we do?" Travis asked leaning on the wall of a building.
"Let's find a safe place to stay the night" you said.
"And I know the correct place. Follow me!" Connor said and started walking away.
"Wait!" You said "What about Katie?"
"I will carry her" Travis said.
"No, you are injured, you can't. Let's wake her up" You replied. He didn't seemed happy with the idea, but he gently waked Katie up. At the beginning she was confused but Travis explained her everything while all of you followed Connor.
After a short walk, you arrived at a hotel.
"Welcome to the Springerville hotel!" Connor said. "We can spend here the night."
"Is it open?" You asked him.
"Let's see" he answered, and tried to open the door. It was open. The lobby was dark except for a lamp illuminating the front desk. There sat a man, dressed with blue clothes, a plaque over his chest read 'Ben', he was a young adult probably 23, but he was definitely strong, he was reading a book.
Connor walked towards the front desk.
"Good night, sir" he said, the man put his book down and looked at him.
"How can I help you?" He asked.
"We need a room for four people, please." Connor replied.
The man looked at the four of you. "Where are your parents, child?" He asked.
"Mmm.. They-"
"They send us here to stay the summer" you interrupted him.
"Oh yeah, they said we need some fresh air" Connor said.
"Fresh air?" The man asked.
"Yeah you know, on the forest and stuff" you answered trying to hide the lie.
"I see," the man said. "What happen to your arm?" He asked Connor.
"Oh, you know I... I" he started saying, but you interrupted him.
"He fell of a bike. You know how kids this days are so stupid they don't know how to ride bikes" Connor gave you a 'I'm going to kill you' look.
"That looks like a bite" the man replied, not buying your obviously amazhang lie. But he was right, the skin around the bite was turning purple and green from the snake venom.
"Nah, its nothing sir." Connor replied. The man seemed unsure, but when he saw Travis burned leg and seemed too realize something.
"Did you kill it?" He asked.
"What?" You asked in reply.
"The Chimera" he answered.
"You know?" Connor asked surprised.
"Yes, I've tried to kill it for weeks now, but it always scape."
"Well, yes we killed it" Connor answered proudly. "Are you a demigod?" He asked him, the man nodded.
"Thanks, for killing it" he search four something on his desk. "Here is your room key, room 27 at the corridor on the left"
"Thanks" you told him and took the key.
"Good luck with your quest demigods" he waved goodbye "Oh, and boys" he told Travis and Connor "No funny business" he gave them that serious father look.
"What? No!" Connor and Travis said at the same time, shocked. You and Katie just laughed.
