Meera's POV
We both got into the private elevator quickly. Exactly when the doors were about to close, a foot was wedged between the doors. I held the button for the doors to open and Derek entered. "Thank you Meera. I was stuck in the traffic at Trafalgar square and thought I'd be late for the meeting. You saved me the walk upstairs." He said sounding breathless. I replied with a smile and also threw a "you're welcome" his way while both Mark and Derek got busy discussing the events of the day.
Derek Webb, Mark's cousin is one of the few people that Mark trusts with his business.
I let the boys talk since I had a lot of other things to handle on my own. Charles and Martha are philanthropists and they are now venturing into establishing a shelter for animals. I have been endowed with the task of finding the suitable land within this week.
I had to shop for an upcoming wedding. My friend Leah is getting married in a month. Leah was Mark's secretary until a week ago. She's in her second trimester now and the doctor advised her against being stressed out.
Being Mark's secretary meant a butt load of pressure. She had to shop for her wedding, attend calls, set meetings and make his daily schedule. She was convinced that she'd be delivering the baby either in her cabin or in the conference room. It reached a point where Mark himself was worried for her health. He asked her to take a break.
That was undoubtedly a great idea because now she can totally focus on her upcoming nuptials and not worry about work.
While I was busy mentally ranting about my schedule I heard the elevator door ding.
We reached the conference room fifteen minutes early. Charles was already there. "Oh good. I was just about to call you. You made it in time" he said.
We entered the room and surprisingly found almost everyone seated. Mark didn't spare a second and started the meeting.
Well, if you're expecting something along the lines of it went extremely well, you are totally mistaken. Halfway through the meeting Charles received a phone call which was important I assumed, because he put his son on hold to take the call.I dreaded a moment like this. Mark wasn't very forgiving when it came to people interrupting him at work. Mark took a seat while he waited for his father to get off the phone.
I squeezed his hand to reassure him that he was doing a great job. A few minutes later, Charles came back with a grim expression on his face. "Everything okay?" I asked him.
"I'm sorry ladies and gentlemen for this meeting is being cut short. We've got more pressing matters to look into. We'll intimate you as soon as the date for the next meeting is set." said Charles instead of answering my question.
Charles Webb, the CEO of Webb Inc. was a true businessman. He was both considerate and ruthless based on the requirement.
He took one look at us and said "Piero had a heart attack."
