Restraint (Part 3)

I got home and found Josh waiting for me on the driveway. "Is everything okay Josh?" I asked him.
He had a pained expression on his face as he said "It's not good Sir. I gave her a sedative so that she doesn't hurt herself or anyone else."
I nodded and asked him to wait outside. I walked into the house and found the whole living room torn apart. To say I was furious is an understatement. Only I knew how hard I toiled to get where I am today. To see my home destroyed by a good for nothing woman with anger issues only made me more determined to get rid of her. I immediately called the cleaning crew and walked into my study. I made a call to my P.I. and asked him to dig into her past and find out if she had a medical history. After what felt like forever, he called me back with the medical history. "Sir, you were right to be suspicious about her. Her name is an alias because her birth name is Aurora Rossi. She changed her name two years ago. She has three restraining orders from her ex-boyfriends. Has been jailed once for beating up her ex-boyfriend's date. And coming to her medical history, she has a serious case of obsessive love disorder. She has been frequenting a psychiatrist in Rome, for her treatment. I have mailed you the details of it. Is that all, Sir?"
I took a moment to process all of it and said "That will be all for now, thank you. As always, your services are excellent Matteo." I walked into the guest bedroom and found her lying on the matress. I stood there wondering how somebody who's so normal on the outside can be so messed up on the inside. She was knocked out cold, all thanks to the sedative. I locked her in the room and decided to get some sleep.

I was fast asleep when I heard a loud bang on the door. I was confused for a few seconds and then remembered that I had locked her in the room last night. I immediately got off the bed and went to unlock the door. I anaticipated a punch but I was greeted by silence. Aurora was on the floor, crying hysterically. I truly felt sorry for her because I actually liked her. "Aurora, we need to talk about last night." I said gently.
She looked up at me with shock and said "You know my birth name. When did you find out?" I was irritated at first because she deflected the elephant in the room but I decided to tread carefully with her. "Yesterday. Let's talk about what you did to Martina." I said sternly.
I saw her eyes burn with hatred as she said "She tried to steal you from me. Sei mio. Non permetterò a nessuno di portarti via da me. When I saw you laugh at something she said, I wanted to rip her heart out. And I was so overcome with anger that I hurt her. I don't want to lose you."
I tried to keep the anger out of my voice as I said "What you did was extremely stupid. She is a friend and we were talking. You can't punch all the women who interact with me. Besides, your medical history has left me wondering if you're actually capable of making sound decisions. And I can't be around someone who goes around throwing punches at every woman who's caught talking to me."
"No No No No.... Don't say that! I love you! I can't live without you! I promise I'll not hurt anyone else. Please don't leave me. Ho bisogno di te nella mia vita!!
"Enough! This has gone too far. I didn't see it before. Your frequent calls and texts, always wanting to spend time with me and not having any friends outside work. I should have figured it out when you stalked Emma! I was blindsided by my reputation that I didn't see the truth." I said angrily.
"I beg you! Don't do this to me! I have been taking my medicines and I'm perfectly fine! You've been seeing me work everyday! I've been interacting with everyone at work very well. I've done everything you've asked of me! One mistake shouldn't ruin what we have!" She wailed.
I was determined to get this over with. So I said "I've spoken to your psychiatrist and he told me that you called him the day we got back from Mumbai. And he also filled me in on you not taking your medicines anymore. So I am not going to put my trust in you only to risk someone else's life when you lose your cool. Nothing you say will change my mind."
I turned around to leave the room as she continued to cry. I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard glass breaking. I quickly looked back and saw Aurora trying to slash her wrist with the broken glass. I acted immediately and pulled the sharp object out of her hand. "Cosa c'è di sbagliato in te? You're now resorting to self harm. Is this what getting better looks like?"
"Cosa faccio? You're not listening to me! I will not survive if you leave me. You are my one true love. I can't live without you." She screamed.
I knew that if I pushed her too hard she would do something stupid. "Okay. I hear you. And I'm not going to leave you. But you have to promise me something. You will not harm yourself and will take your medicines regularly. I'll speak to your psychiatrist and you'll head back to Rome where you'll stay until I'm sure that you're doing well. And when you're ready, I'll personally bring you back here and we'll be together again. Can you do that for me?" I said slowly and gently, gauging her reaction all the while.
She silently nodded her head and said "Okay. I'll do it for us. But only if you promise to video call every day."
I agreed to her terms and quickly sent her packing.
I genuinely felt bad for sending her away but I knew that she needed the space to get better and take things slow. On the inside, I was glad that I was out of an unhealthy relationship. For the first couple of days I made sure I called her everyday. But that didn't last long as her psychiatrist advised me to not call her as it was only making her more temperamental. So I stopped calling her altogether and got back to work. Everything was fine for two whole months, until Meera arrived. I don't know how she got the information on the partnership but she came back to ensure that I didn't cheat on her.

And she told me that she's here while we were at the hospital. I left in a hurry claiming I had work to do. It took me a while to get her to calm down and understand that Meera is not a threat. I told her that I had no feelings for Meera and that I was purely interested in her for the business expansion.

Initially I wasn't interested in Meera. But I knew she was a beautiful woman and undoubtedly was attracted to her. But knowing Aurora, I kept the knowledge locked inside. Little did I know that Aurora had eyes all over the place.
The night I kissed Meera, it was out of an impulse. I wasn't planning on doing it until I had her pressed against me. Her soft curves and her intoxicating scent got to me and I kissed her. I still remember how good the kiss was. It took me a lot of self control to ensure that I didn't do anything stupid. Later, when I came back, I had a text on my phone from an unknown number. It was a picture of Meera and I kissing. I immediately knew what this meant for Meera and knew that I was walking on egg shells by getting closer to her.
Every minute spent in her company showed me why she was so important for the Webbs.
And then came the day when I brought her home. Greta warned me about Aurora. I heard a crash from upstairs and knew what was happening. I looked at Meera with apprehension and saw that she was busy with Bubba, which was a relief. I quietly went upstairs to bring the situation under control.

Aurora kept throwing things around while I entered the study. She lifted a vase, and stopped mid-air when she spotted me. She placed the case back on the table and said "Hai promesso!"
I yelled back at her saying "When I explained to you why I'm doing this, I expect you to understand and comply with me! Don't make this about you! You and your stupidity will only ruin everything! And don't come here when you have clearly been asked to stay away!"

She seethed with anger as she yelled "You said there was nothing between you two. Mi hai mentito! And here I believed you! And now she has to suffer the consequences!"
My blood turned cold when she said that so I said "Trust me. This is all a lie. Please don't do anything stupid because that will only make me unhappy. You promised to get better. Prove it to me. Don't hurt her."
She sighed and said "The only reason I didn't kill her the very night she kissed you is proof enough. But when this farce is over, I want us to get back together." She left after some persuasion but she still was angry about all of it. And it took a tremendous amount of restraint to not kill her for all the problems she caused so far.
I knew I wouldn't survive the night with all that's going on in my head. So I decided to head out and grab a drink.
