AN- I hate authors notes so this is the only one I'll be doing throughout this whole book. This book is set as though Valentine and Jonathan were actually killed in the uprising, clary was brought up knowing she was a shadowhunter, and jace was brought up by his grandmother Imogen herondale. I hope you enjoy it and any and all criticism is welcomed.
Disclaimer_ I do not own anything but the plot. Cassandra Clare owns everything else.

Chapter one -The decision
Simon and clary were siting in Java Jones listening to Simon's friend Eric breathe into the microphone about his newest girlfriend and one true love. Simon looked nervous today with a sheen of sweat decorating his face and frantic eyes despite the cool weather. He looked just as he did when he had found out about the shadow world about the creatures and beasts that existed and the proud hunters that guarded and protected the mundane world. Simon had thought it was a beautiful tale until he realised that most shadowhunters were arrogant assholes and that the creatures that were told to come in the dead of the night were actually real. He hadn't believed her at first. He had thought she was on drugs or insane. So one night he'd stalked after her and watched as she staked the heart of a rouge vampire, after it had almost killed him of course. So it must be something important he looked almost exactly the same apart from the fact that he was wearing clothes with considerably less holes in them. Wrapped up in her rememberance she  hadn't noticed that Simon had started to speak his shoulders set in a determined expression just like the one he'd worn when he's asked her if he could be a shadowhunter. I don't want to be here when there's monsters to fight, if you don't let me do his then you don't know me. He was saying something else now her mind struggled to process what he'd said. She started when her brain finally finished translating his lip movements. I want to be parabati. Clary clary. Simon looked nervous again and as usual started rambling until the words were incoherently blending together in a mix of imeanikmowimamundanebut
Simon of course she interrupted her voice cutting him short but are you sure I mean you don't still like me do you because the  silent broth-

No said Simon he face showing the awkwardness he felt. She'd worn that expression for almost two weeks after he'd told her and she'd told him she didn't feel for him what he felt for her. It had felt like they were strangers then suddenly Simons sister had slipped into the pool and in their laughter the awkwardness had dissolved.clary smiled thinking of Everything they'd been through together. It was unusual for a shadowhunter to have a mundane friend but he had still become the closest person to her. Of course clary said
Simon looked unsure of course I don't like you or of course we'll be parabati
The second you idiot clary yelled wrapping her arms around him in exaltation. They left some money for the coffee then dashed out walking purposefully down the road, until clary realised she had no idea what she was supposed to do. Erm Simon. Yep he replied happiness still evident on his face. We need to go to the institute and ask my mum what to do. Oh ok Simon replied and then they started walking purposefully in the other direction.
