My heart exploded into a frantic rhythm like I was sprinting a marathon, it was painful and very loud. I was still looking at Freddie with my mouth hanging open and Mark though I couldn’t see him seemed frozen, his arms were still around me but he was unnaturally still.

Quickly I realised both boys were waiting for some sort of confirmation, Freddie for his accuracy and Mark for an all out explanation unless he thought it was all coincidence, I didn’t think I was going to be that lucky though.

I cleared my throat. “Yeah I guess he does but Lucas and Mark are brothers”. It was better I didn’t try to deny that it was his brother we were talking about, what are the chances that I’d know someone else called Lucas who just happened to look like Mark?

Freddie shrugged after a minute and smiled. “Can we watch movies now Claire”?

“Uh, sure buddy”. I tried to get up and failed miserably, groaning in pain in the process. Mark slid out from behind me with a questioning gaze as he gently brought me to my feet again, wrapping his arm supportively around my waist so that I wouldn’t fall down anywhere.

“Lead the way” I told Freddie. The whole way up the stairs I felt Mark’s eyes on me and I knew that the longer I avoided the issue the more suspicious it would make him. “What”? I asked him with a confused smile to make him ask me the question.

“How does Freddie know Lucas and why does he know him as Lucas”? I hadn’t expected the last part but I kind of brought it all on myself; you reap what you sew and all that.

“Remember when he gave me all those detentions”?

“Yeah”.

“During the last class of one day Mrs Bull came in and told me that Freddie had been taken to hospital because he hurt himself real bad at school. The thing is I never went to detention to tell Mr Greyson that I wouldn’t be there, I just ran to my car. Like always luck was not with me and my car wouldn’t start and Mr Greyson came out yelling at me in the car lot for not going to his detention and I told him what happened with Freddie and my car so he gave me ride to the hospital and waited with me so he could drive us home”. I thought I did pretty good explaining it, but Mark was unnaturally still again before he exploded.

“That ASSHOLE”! He stormed, his eyes bulging out of his sockets. “I can’t believe it! He knew, he fucking knew and STILL HE-“

“Whoa, language” I muttered in awe, pointing at Freddie dazedly. Does he know?

“Sorry, I just can’t believe it! I knew something was up, he’ll pay for this and DON’T even get me STARTED on YOU” he glared, I flinched at the way his eyes pierced me.

“M – me? P – pay for what”? I asked, scared now.

“The bastard knew I was coming here and he didn’t bother to tell me your address or give me a ride! I had to create a Facebook account just to get hold Jenny to tell me! Then I actually had to walk a whole half hour to get here, what an asshole and I had to do all this because someone refused to tell me where they live”! He glared at me again, his breath coming in pants.

I laughed hysterically out of nothing more or less than pure relief at his answer, I was laughing so hard my ribs were aching and I was crying through the laughter at the pain. Mark looked annoyed and Freddie looked confused over his shoulder at us.

“Thanks a lot Claire, I did it for you so you wouldn’t be alone” Mark huffed.

That sobered me again. “I know and thank you, but what do you mean you had to create a Facebook account? Did you not have one”?
