After living with my father and Merlin for a day was tiring. My father didn't stop boasting about the diamond rain incident I became very well known throughout Merlin's kingdom. They ended up giving me my own hall in the castle to do whatever I wished.
“Lady Guinevere, Merlin would like to speak with you in the Center.” If there's anything I learned in Merlin's kingdom is he will never accept his official test, and that this castle is not like all the rest and have their different names for everything.
The entire castle was made of a beautiful crystal, one that shimmers brighter than the sun and is harder than diamonds. “Guinevere taking her time again, enjoying the delight if the infinity stone that makes up our kingdom.” Merlin approached out of nowhere.
“Sorry, I was on my way to the throne ro - I mean the Center.” I slightly bowed my head so he wouldn't notice. “You wanted to see me?”
“I had every important question to ask you, your father doesn't know yet and he won't until you have had time to process and make up your mind about what you're going to be asked.”
“Should I be worried about this question Uncle Merlin?” I started getting severely curious and fear filled.
“I have sensed the energy you give off and it's incredible. And as you know the kingdom is not ran the same as others, or anywhere closely related I've been looking for someone as gifted as you that I also trust to make the right decisions. Your Wolam Witch oath may not have gone through but it's opened the door for you to use your gifts in a new way.” He just kept talking.
“Uncle Merlin, please just get to the point. I'm sorry but my father is expecting me for lunch this afternoon.” I smiled politely.
“Oh yes, it's Thursday. Father daughter bonding lunch. I'll make this as which as I can.” He looked around in hesitation. “Your powers are no longer bonded to one type after your incomplete oath. You can complete almost any oath in a similar area, I would like you to continue my other and with it, I would like you to become the heir to the throne when I step down. There is one side to taking the oath, you will an e taken the oath but you will not be the next Head of this form of clan, that title will pass down to your first child, or die off completely.” His words hit me by surprise.
It for like both an honor and a curse at the same time. His complete trust in someone he had only met a week ago was astounding, but it's such a huge thing. To take on someone else's oath after losing everything I had, the family I grew up with my entire life. I was honored to have found a new family that cares for me, it was a miracle. But now his eyes were looking into mine. My eyes clouded and hazed over in a blinding confusion that set my heart rattling like a rock slide as my lungs started to close. I did all that I could to stop my teeth from chattering but it didn't help, my hands were trembling in a beyond help rhythm.
Merlin took my hands in his and continued to look in my eyes. “This is not an easy decision and there's no way I would accept an answer anytime soon until I know you had time to reflect. I'll send someone to your father to tell him you need some time before lunch, take a breath and relax. Tour worried and that's normal. Just don't think about it for about a few days.” He let go of my hands and started walking away.
Rarely breathing I felt my lungs burning for a sip if air, but I couldn't bring myself to breathe. I was drowning in the stuffy constricted air that surrounded me. Nothing was easy from the moment I left the island, I may is have to accept that my life isn't going to stop changing just because I want it to. What would being an heir to a throne mean? Marriage? Responsibilities? Doing the best for as many people as possible? How can I turn down helping as many people as my heart desires? But in the other hand how can I bring myself to be in change if a whole kingdom when my whole life has been living off of others. I wonder if this is what expecting mothers feel like.
I finally let the air entrapped inside me go when I nearly fainted. I was having problem keeping my balance as I walked through the halls towards my father and my lunch location.
“Guinevere, are you alright? You're completely pale!” My father exclaimed when he saw me.
“Just lightheaded,” I gasped “I'll be alright.”
“Please take a seat,” He pulled out a chair for me. I actually have some very important news to share with you today. I've been thinking about it for some time now and you have such great potential.”
“I don't have the attention span to manage through a while speech. I can barely keep my head up,” I was dizzy, and a touch bit rude.
“Of course, sorry Guinevere. I guess I'm just a little nervous to ask you finally.” He was sweating. “After your incomplete oath for the Wolam Witched you have a range of new possibilities I guess I'm trying to ask you is if you would become the head of the Wickens? I would teach you everything you could possibly need to know, the oath isn't as hard as the one you tried but it's just as important. Would you become the heir to the Wicken bloodline?”
Two in one day, two in twenty minutes. My head sounds as if was every lightheaded. “Would you excuse me.” I stood and scurried from the table.
I ran through the halls faster than I had ever run before. Every corner my hand grazed sent sparks of light streaming through the infinity stone. My legs ached from running in heels and the second I stopped outside my room I threw them off my feet. Locking the door behind me in plopped onto my large king sized bed, my lungs gasping to breathe in at least one more breath. All I could do was sir there panting do minutes, through it felt more like hours. Each breath and the burning worse, their words constantly spinning through my head between both of them, how could I turn either of them down when they both want me to take after them? I can't turn down my father easily and Merlin wants to trust me with his kingdom, that doesn't happen every day. Emotions kept building inside me and just wouldn't stop with one thing anger filled my lungs, sadness and confusion covered my eyes with tears, nervousness trembled my limbs, all my nerves were running as rapidly as possible and I couldn't control myself. I hit a peak and everything just expelled from my body with one scream. Lights traveled through the infinity stone sit me as the epicenter. The light kept building into a blinding screen of white, the light was full of all sort of random energy that vibrated in a sharp hum through the room. Once I opened my eyes again the infinity stone had lightning like cracks spreading through the room from my bed. The crack didn't stop until they reached the door. And there in the doorway stood Merlin, hands outstretched as he looked right to me.
“What happened? The infinity stone is cracked!” Merlin didn't know what to do. “Are you alright? What caused this? You're not hurt are you?”
“I think I caused it.” I was just as confused.
Merlin just stood there and stared at me, he didn't look like he believed me. “Come with me, we'll find you a new room.” I slipped off the bed and slowly walked to Merlin. He took my hand and held my shoulders as we walked through the halls.
