"Merry Christmas, Baby Dinosaur."
Dylan was whispering in my ear and placing soft kisses on my face.
"Merry Christmas, Dyl Pickle."
We got back to Los Angeles over a week ago and we've been staying at Dylan's apartment. I think I've only been to mine once and that was just to get new clothes to bring over here.
"Why don't we talk about moving in together?" Dylan said when he saw me packing a new bag our first day back.
"We just got back from being gone for 6 months. Why don't we just enjoy the break and we'll discuss it later?"
He hasn't brought it back up. I don't know if my comment made him think I didn't want to or if he's just been focusing on Christmas.
Anyways. I rolled over and kissed him.
"What time is everyone coming over again?"
"5. Wanna go ahead and open our presents now?"
I smiled and nodded. I love Christmas. We made our way into the living room that held a small Christmas tree surrounded by presents. They weren't all for me and him. We decided with the friends that our coming to spend Christmas with us, we were all going to exchange gifts. Dylan went to the kitchen and made us coffee while I pulled out our gifts.
"Here you go, sweetheart."
I took the coffee mug from his hand and inhaled the beautiful vanilla smell.
"Let's open the gifts at the same time. I'm such an awkward gift opener."
Dylan laughed. "So am I, so that's fine with me."
We started ripping open the presents like children. I had given Dylan a new skateboard with DC and Marvel superhero symbols painted on the bottom, a few movies he wanted, new fins for his surfboard, and a board bag hand painted by Posey. It was a Teen Wolf scene. On the bag was Stiles' jeep, a Sheriff's badge, wolf, coyote, fox, Wailing Woman, Lacrosse stick, triskelion, and a sign that said Beacon Hills.
"Holy shit babe! I love this! Did T. Pose paint this?"
I nodded as I opened my gifts. Dyl got me new wheels for my skateboard, a new rainbow leash for my surfboard, a cute stuffed dinosaur, a triskelion necklace *HELLO THIS IS AWESOME*, and a... key?
Dylan was leaning back on his hands as I held the key up.
"I already have a key to your place. Are you expecting me to lose it?"
He laughed and stood up quickly, taking our coffee cups from the table.
"Wanna go for a walk? Then we can come back and you can try out those wheels and I can try out my new board."
Yup, my boyfriend thinks I'm going to lose the key to his apartment so he gave me a spare. I would never lose it... Wait... no I think it's on my key ring. Shit, I have to double check. I stuck the spare key in my phone case and stood up.
"Sure, let's get dressed."
We skated over to the beach and started walking. This was something we did at least once a week when we were actually in town. We liked to listen to the waves and look at all the houses right on the beach. There's one house we walk by every time that I'm absolutely in love with. It's two stories with a screened in porch taking up one half of the back overlooking the beach, and an open deck taking up the other half. It had bay windows in the front. When we first went walking, I told Dylan I was going to own it one day.
"It's for sale, why don't you buy it now?"
"It's been on the market for a year. I wanted to graduate first and then I swore I was going to buy it as a graduation gift. But It's a little much for just me right now, and Hartley says she wants to keep our apartment."
I could see the house coming up. I squeezed Dylan's house.
"There it is. Maybe one day I'll own it."
My heart sank as we got closer. The for Sale sign that had been in the window now said SOLD and there was a bow on the back door.
"Someone bought it already. Guess I should've just bought it when I had the chance." I sighed heavily. "Oh well. Hopefully the new owners take great care of it."
Dylan grabbed my hand and we started walking over to it.
"What are you doing?"
He smiled widely. "Just looking."
We got up on the deck and he started looking in through the window.
"Dylan, stop. People are gonna think we're trying to break in!"
He turned around quickly. "Wouldn't it be funny if that key I gave you earlier fit in the lock?"
I looked at him suspiciously as he reached and pulled my phone out of my back pocket.
"Why don't you try it?"
I took the key out of the phone case and stuck it in the lock.
"You're crazy, it's not gonna work." I turned the key and the door swung open.
My mouth dropped and I was frozen. Dylan pushed me in through the door and I started turning in circles, admiring the house. When I turned back to him, he had one hand on his hip and the other hand rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"Welcome home, baby."
"What?"
I couldn't think straight. He had to be pulling my leg.
"I bought it. Hopefully for both of us to live in."
I looked around again, trying to take everything he was saying in.
"You bought this for us?"
He nodded. I could tell by the look on his face, my silence was making him nervous. I quickly closed the gap between us and jumped on him, wrapping my arms around his neck and kissing him hard.
"This is the best Christmas gift I've ever gotten. I love you so much Dylan O'Brien, and I can't wait to officially move into my dream house with you."
That smile I love so much spread across his face. "Do you mean it? You want me to live here, too?"
"Of course I do. This is perfect. When did you buy this?"
He set me down and grabbed my hand, giving me a tour of our new house.
"Remember last month I was on the phone a lot and I left for a couple of hours and wouldn't really tell anyone why?"
I nodded as he flipped a light switch, illuminating the room we were in.
"Well I was on the phone with a real estate lawyer who handled the whole thing for me. I met with someone in London that he forwarded the paperwork to and filled everything out. I picked up a key after we got back, had all the utilities turned on and everything."
"I can't believe it. I had no idea you were doing this. I thought you were just trying to be secretive about Christmas presents or something."
We turned into the living room and he flipped the switch on, revealing a big, fully lit and decorated Christmas tree in the corner.
"Well, technically I guess you were right." Dylan laughed quietly.
I whipped around to face him. "Do you think... we can start moving in today? Maybe even have Christmas dinner here?"
His arms snaked around my waist, pulling me close. "I think, that sounds like a fantastic idea. Though I don't know how much furniture we will be able to get over here. We can't get a truck until tomorrow. But we can bring clothes, dishes, blankets."
"We can just have everyone sit on pillows and blankets! I don't think they'll mind too much. It's... 9 now, we have 8 hours until everyone will be here. We can at least go get boxes and start packing stuff up. Wait... are you gonna give up your apartment?"
He nodded. "My lease goes up on the 31st anyways, so it's kind of perfect. We can focus on getting everything out of my place first since we're on a time crunch, then do your place after."
"Sounds like a perfect idea. Let's go grab the jeep and head to get some boxes. I can't wait to start getting stuff. I'll text everyone the address and tell them to just meet us here. I guess I can still just make dinner at the apartment and bring it over tonight."
