After dinner, I slowly made my way to Sharmy's hotel room. My head was a mess. My thoughts were scrambled. But Wes was right. I stood on the ground floor waiting for the elevator, my finger hovering over my phone screen. Taking a deep breath I hit send on the call screen and held it up to my ear. After what felt like endless ringing, the voicemail message clicked on.
"Hey it's Dylan. I'm probably busy or something. Really I just suck at keeping my phone with me. So leave a message and I'll try not to suck at calling you back."
I smiled at his ridiculous voicemail recording but ended the call before it beeped to allow me to leave a message. The elevator doors opened on the 5th floor and I made my way to Sharmy's room. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door. It swung open quickly to reveal a shirtless Daniel Sharman with a wide grin on his face. He leaned in, kissing me on the cheek as he always does, before letting me pass.
"Would you like a drink?" His British accent thick as he broke the awkward silence.
"No thank you." I walked over and plopped down on the couch.
He stopped in his tracks. "Something must be wrong if you're turning down alcohol."
I laughed, rubbing my hands together. "Wes said if I show up drunk or hungover again, I'm gonna lose my job."
"Shit," he breathed out. "I didn't realize it had gotten that bad. I mean yeah I knew you'd been drinking more but I didn't realize it was affecting your work." He sat down beside me on the couch. "I guess I've been a shitty friend not actually seeing how you're doing."
I patted him on the knee. "It's fine Daniel, honestly. I'm an adult. I just need to start acting like one." I pulled my hand back to pick at loose threads on my shirt. "I called him again by the way."
His head cocked to the side. "Did he answer?"
I shook my head, mouthing no. "Wes told me to keep trying if I really wanted him back." My voice cracked. "But it's been two weeks and not a word from him. How much trying do I have to do before I just end up looking stupid because he doesn't care?"
"Charlie. He loves you. I don't know why he's doing this, this isn't like him. But I think he just needs to see you but he's being stubborn."
"Well I'm going back home in a couple weeks. Apparently we're taking a little break from filming for July 4th."
"America is the only place to celebrate that. You're not in America." He laughed out.
I nudged him and joined in laughing. "I know that, but most of the cast and crew are from or live in America. So Ras is letting us off to go home and be with our families or whatever."
"Well that's awful nice of him."
I nodded slowly. "He's a good man. I feel like shit for how I've been acting." I rubbed my hands over my face and groaned. "This was such a good opportunity I was given and I've just been throwing it away. If it wasn't for Wes saving my ass, Ras would've fired me already."
"Wes is a good man too." He said softly.
"I honestly don't know where I would be without him."
He shifted in his seat. "So do you think Dylan will actually be reachable for the holiday?"
"I'm gonna call Posey tomorrow and try to get him to help me plan something."
Daniel nodded but said nothing.
"I'm going to tell him."
"About what?"
"Us. What happened last night."
His shoulders visibly tensed. "You're going to tell posey?"
I rolled my eyes and chuckled. "No. I'm going to tell Dylan. Assuming he does ever speak to me again."
"He's going to hate me."
I nodded. "Probably gonna hate me too. But on the off chance he does want to reconcile when he sees me, I can't keep that from him. Also..."My hesitation caused Daniel to turn and look at me, waiting. "You know that can never happen again right? I love Dylan. You're one of my best friends but that was just a moment of weakness. I mean yeah... you're gorgeous and all but.."
"I understand Charlie and I agree. As much as I think we could have a lot of fun together," he smirks, "you and Dylan are meant to be. I can't come between that."
Patting his hand, I stood up, waiting for him to follow suit. Once he was standing in front of me, I gave him a big hug.
"Thank you. For everything. Hopefully we can still be normal with each other. I don't want to lose my best friend."
He tightened the hug. "I'm not going anywhere so do not worry. It's late, you should go get some sleep. Are you going to be okay?"
I pulled away and grabbed my things. "I'll be fine." I nodded. "I'll text you in the morning."
He walked me to the door, kissed my cheek, and told me bye, shutting the door behind me as I made my way to my room. I pulled out my phone.
POSEY!! I'm coming home in two weeks for the 4th. DO NOT TELL DYLAN. But can you help me make sure I know where he is so I can see him?-Charlie
Once I got back to my room, I changed into one of Dylan's old shirts and crawled into bed. My eyes had just closed when my phone dinged.
You got it. Secrets safe with me ;) still haven't heard from him?-Tyler
No... tried calling again today. But maybe if I come see him face to face he'll actually be willing to talk to me.-Charlie
Asshole... Either way, I can't wait to see you. If he doesn't want to see you, then he's an idiot. I don't care if he is my best friend. You're amazing and we all make mistakes. He should be more forgiving.-Tyler
I smiled. I loved Posey so much. He was like my brother and he always knew how to make me feel better.
Thanks T Pose. That was really sweet. I can't wait to see you either. I'm gonna get some sleep though ❤️-Charlie
Night Chucky ❤️-Tyler
