CAMERON'S POV
"Hey Jen." I answered the call.
"Hey Cam! How are you?" She replied, sounding cheerful as always.
Jennifer Klaide was my best friend in high school and she was my first girlfriend too. We shared our first kiss, and I can say it was magical.
FLASHBACK:
"You're weird." She chuckled, hopping beside me in her bed. Her parents asked me to stay the night and watch over Jennifer while they went on a road trip.
"But you love me." I laughed. She playfully smacked my arm and smiled. I stared deep into her green eyes, the laughter died. I leaned in, for a kiss.
But she stopped me.
"Cam..." She looked down, slowly moving away.
"I'm sorry.."
"Uhm." She stuttered.
"I like you." I whispered.
"What?"
"I like you, Jen."
"Ask me then.."
"Ask you what?" I asked, confused.
"Ask me to be your girlfriend.."
I sat up and she did the same, I took both of her hands.
"Jen..." I breathed. "Will you be my girlfriend?"
"Yes."
REAL TIME~
"Cam? Are you still there? Cameron?" I heard her say through the phone. Did I doze off?
"Oh.. Hey. How long was I not responding?" I asked.
"Like, a minute." She giggled.
"What's up?"
"I just wanted to know if you wanted to go to my brother's birthday party tomorrow. Maybe we can talk and catch up." She said, I can literally see her smile through the phone.
"Why does your brother speak in a British accent but you don't?" I teased,
"Hey, he's just my half brother. So, do you wanna come?"
"Can I bring someone?"
"Sure, is that someone special?" She chuckled.
"Yeah."
"O-m-g! Who's the lucky girl?" She yelled.
"Actually, it's a boy."
"O-m-geeee!" She squeaked. "That is so cute! I would love to meet him."
"He's mine." I teased.
"Oh Cameron, I know. You know me too well to know that I won't steal him from you." She laughed. "Hey, I gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow. There's a dress code, I'll just text it to you later together with the address. Bye!" And with that she hung up.
I looked out the window to check on what Nash is doing, he was on his phone, lying down facing away.
My phone rang and I read the text from Jen
"Blue button up, jeans or pants, shoes, 4216 Vine St."
I plopped on my bed, just staring at the ceiling. I'll give Nash another hour to finish whatever he's doing and I'll tell him about the party.
FLASHBACK:
"Happy birthday baby." I leaned, kissing her cheek. We were in a beach, sitting on the white sand waiting for the sunset.
"Thanks." She looked at me. There were people around us, kids laughing, adults sharing stories, girls gossiping and guys showing off. It was a typical day for them, but for me, it's a special one.
"Remember what you promised me?" I asked, smiling.
"How can I forget?"
"What did you promise me then?"
She breathed. "I promised to kiss you on my 16th birthday, on the beach, when then sun sets." She giggled.
"Awesome." I kissed her cheek again. She rested her head on my shoulder.
We talked for a while, about different stuff. We can't stay on one topic, first it was on food, hotels, resorts, water, dates, restaurants, books, movies and ended up talking about mustard. I don't know. We're weird. Perfectly weird.
"Look." I said pointing to the sunset.
She giggled and I turn my head to look at her. I stared at her green eyes again, they were bright and radiant. I loved her eyes, it might be my favorite thing about her...excluding the 'you know' ;)
We leaned in, closing our eyes. Closer. Closer. Closer.
Until our lips met.
