Genevieve hummed quietly to herself as she unlocked the door to her apartment, adjusting the strap of her bag that rested on her shoulder.
"Babe?" She called out, putting her things on the counter, frowning when she didn't get a response. "Stefan?"
Her perfectly plucked eyebrows furrowed together in confusion, her features relaxing a little when she spotted a scrap of paper next to the fruit bowl.
Stefan's neat cursive penmanship had been scrawled across the crisp sheet.
Roses are red I know you hate Valentine's I'm waiting in your bed.
Genevieve laughed to herself and placed the note back down. She ruffled her wavy blonde hair as she made her way to her bedroom, following the trail of rose petals.
He sat on the bed, which had been covered in petals, tea light candles scattered around the room. Stefan motioned for her to come closer to him, a ghost of a smile on his lips.
She couldn't wipe the smile off her glossed lips as she took a seat next to him, "What on earth are you doing?"
"No, stop, let me be romantic for once," Stefan held up a finger to silence her. "I've said it before but I will say it again, you are the single greatest thing to ever happen to me and I want you to keep happening to me for the rest of my life. I know it's way too early in our relationship for me to ask you to marry me, but I do want to spend eternity with you."
He pulled a silver diamond ring from the pocket of his jeans.
"Promise me that you will."
"You are so lame," she rolled her sky blue eyes. "But yeah. Yeah I guess eternity wouldn't be so bad if I was with you."
Stefan couldn't help but grin, slipping the ring on her finger before attacking her lips with his.
"Wait," Gen pulled away momentarily, "before we continue, we should probably put out those candles."
"Yeah, that's probably a good idea."
Soon enough the candles had been put out and they were connected by their mouths once more.
They spent the rest of the night tangled between the sheets, sharing laughter and stories from their pasts.
Genevieve wanted to stay like that with him forever.
