Today, there's no Woojin or Donghyun or Yerin with them in the afternoon. It's just the both of them walking back together under the dim glare of yellow streetlights at half past six in the evening.
Is she awkward being alone with him again? Yes, honestly. A little bit. She doesn't really know what to say anymore, not after that earlier lunch break.
"Why are we so quiet, it's not even morning." Youngmin suddenly speaks up, his voice quieter than usual, and Yuna just stops walking all of a sudden. He looks back at her, his head tilted slightly in confusion and the sunlight hitting his face- No, this is not the time.
"You confuse me, Youngmin."
A small, awkward smile forms on his lips as he scratches the back of his neck, "I'm sorry."
"You lied, too. Or was it Donghyun and Woojin who lied-"
"No, no," he quickly says, his voice growing louder with every syllable he says, "They didn't lie to you, they really do care for you. Maybe... Maybe actually more than I do," Youngmin lets out a sigh, "I'm sorry, alright? I feel terrible, I don't normally lie so much- Actually, I don't even lie at all."
"So why did you?"
"I don't know."
At this point, Yuna really doesn't know what to say anymore and the sun has almost completely set. She drops her gaze and starts walking again, leaving him behind before he quickly jogs to catch up to her in silence.
Not a single word is exchanged between them until they both reach just the outside of their apartment unit doors and Youngmin has tapped her shoulder when she is still fishing out her keys to unlock the door.
"I'm stupid and a liar, and I know I hurt you. I'm really sorry, Yuna. I feel really bad." He says again, his hand light on her shoulder.
She shakes his hand off of her shoulder, turning to him and dropping her keys back in her pocket when her hand finally takes hold of it. She looks up at him, biting on her lips, and she notices the way his lips part in another awkward smile.
"If you feel bad, couldn't you at least tell me why you lied? Or why you said you like me but don't deserve me, because I honestly really don't get it. I know you're graduating and all that stuff, but why? Don't I at least deserve to know why you put me through so fucking much rejections for me to find out in the end that you just actually like me?"
After bursting out in all that, she just lets out a deep breath and sits down on the floor right outside her apartment, burying her face in her hands and putting her bag beside her.
"I'm sorry, too. I'm being so immature right now, but god, I like you so damn much and you just somehow decided all on your own to play with me."
She pulls her knees to her chest and props her elbows up, placing her chin in between them and using one hand to run her fingers through her hair.
Yuna watches as Youngmin slowly walks over, kneeling down in front of her and reaching for her cheeks, tucking her hair behind her ear as he looks straight into her eyes, and all of a sudden, she can't breathe.
"I'm sorry."
"Why can't you stop saying that?"
He freezes, "I'm sorry I said I don't deserve you, I really don't. I'm sorry for hurting you. I'm sorry you had to like me out of all people. I'm sorry for saying sorry over and over again, I just don't know what else to say anymore."
