chapter twenty-one

She learns later that Youngmin has been running around the entire campus for three hours that afternoon after class to go from soccer training, to finding teachers, to passing reply slips and a whole lot of other stuff that lets him leave the campus by six in the evening, completely drained but still smiling when he spots her, pushes away Woojin from her side and immediately pulls her in a tight hug.

"I've had a really tiring day." He sighs, lowering his forehead onto her shoulder as he pants. He had just come running from inside the campus, sweat trickling down the sides of his head and his fringe stuck to his forehead.

Yuna reaches over to rub his back gently, "Breathe, Youngmin. Catch your breath for a while, you don't want to pass out right here."

He groans and hugs her tighter, murmuring soft words into her shoulder, "Just hold me for a while, will you? Don't say anything."

Then, Yuna remembers that there's a Park Woojin right beside them, tapping on his phone. Youngmin doesn't seem to be minding him at all, and Woojin, well, he seems to be very busy on his phone anyway.

After what feels like a calm and quiet eternity, he pulls away, his hands automatically cupping her cheeks as he presses his forehead to hers and looks into her eyes.

"Today was absolute hell. I've been running up and down four floors to find teachers and get papers printed for them because it's exam period in two weeks and they're passing the responsibility to me because I'm student body president."

"You signed up for that," Woojin shrugs and places his hand on the older's shoulder. Youngmin just sighs again and fixes his position so that he's also facing him now.

"I know, I wanted to leave an impression on everyone for my last year. They also reminded me that we, us seniors, have to pass our application forms for college within the next two months after exams, too. I don't even know where I want to go for college, if I'm going back home to Busan or staying in Seoul or going abroad."

He heaves a deep breath before reaching over to put his arms around Yuna and Woojin respectively. "Come on, guys. Let's just go eat first. My treat because you guys waited for me for so long and I feel the need to repay you guys."

Youngmin takes them both to a Chinese restaurant for black bean noodles with some soda while they talk because obviously, they can't drink anything else aside from juice, water and soda and Woojin said he was craving something with fizz.

"What are you planning to take for college, anyway?" Woojin asks, setting down his can of cola.

Youngmin swallows his mouthful and puts down his chopsticks. "I honestly have no idea. Streetdance? Film? They're all asking me, too, I think they have high expectations for me and think I'm to go into medicine or business just because I'm the president. Strange."

They exchange a few more words, and between all of this, Yuna is just eating her noodles in silence, her head down. Youngmin glances over, the edge of his lips turning up slightly in a smirk as he reaches over to pull back her hair.

"Do you have a hairtie with you?"

"What, are you going to tie her hair for her now-" Woojin snorts, but then freezes. "Oh, you really are."

Yuna has passed over to him a ribbon she has kept in the front of her backpack for some reason, and he dropped his chopsticks for a second and tie back her hair as nicely as he can using it.

"Guys, I swear I'm going to randomly throw up one day because of your physical affection towards each other." Woojin states, and this causes Youngmin's ears to flush bright red. "You can go do whatever you want when it's just you two, but please, lay off the sweet stuff when I'm around. It's weird to see two of my close friends being...that. But yeah, please do call me when wedding bells ring for you."
