Okay, so she didn't really mean to wake him up at a quarter to midnight just to ask for help on her homework. She wasn't even expecting for him to sleep so early.
She was just surprised when he opened the door, his red hair sticking up at different angles with his eyes still half closed. She thought he would be studying or something, since she can normally hear faint music coming from his apartment.
"Sorry for waking you up," Yuna says sheepishly, hiding the notebook she's holding behind her back using one hand. "I, uh, I'll just go back to my unit."
"No, no, it's fine."
Youngmin yawns, covering his mouth with his hand and rubs at his eyes, blinking a few times before opening the door wider to let her in. She ducks under his arm and goes slowly to his coffee table.
He pulls up two chairs for both of them and sits down, "What do you need help with?"
Yuna quickly flips open her notebook to the page where there are a lot of unanswered equations messily scribbled down on it. She pushes over to him the notebook, an apologetic smile on her face. He just stares at it for a few moments before glancing up at her, light chuckles escaping his throat.
"Hold on, Yuna, my brain isn't functioning properly yet. Let me set up my brain for a few minutes."
She laughs awkwardly, "Sorry for waking you up so suddenly."
"Nah, that's alright. I was just a bit tired from earlier..." his voice falters and the smile on his face flickers for a moment before he quickly grins at her when she starts to say something again. "But don't worry about it, you know I'll do anything to help you. You're like my little sister."
Suddenly, he gets up from his chair and disappears into another room, returning with two steaming cups of whatever, placing them down on the table before slipping back in his seat. He looks much more awake now.
"Show me which one you're having the most trouble with. Knowing you, there's a lot more pages, right?"
She laughs awkwardly again, flipping the pages indiscreetly to count them. "Um, there's not that much-"
Youngmin raises his eyebrows at her, and she involuntarily blushes. "How many are there?"
"Just around three pages back to back."
He snorts and reaches for his cup, taking a long drink before setting it down and smiling at her. "This is going to be a long night. You need it by tomorrow?" She nods, and he holds out his hand for a pen, which she places slowly in his palm. "Alright, then."
Their late night homework session turns out to last until three in the morning, by which time both of them are already uncontrollably yawning and Yuna is already apologizing to Youngmin every five minutes for keeping him up that late.
Somehow, he's still grinning brightly at her and telling her that it's fine with him even though his droopy eyes are already saying otherwise. Is it weird if she actually likes him more after this?
"Thank you so much, Youngmin. I'd be a total failure in Math without you. I'm really sorry for keeping you up so late." Yuna repeats profusely at twenty-one minutes past three in the morning when Youngmin has gotten up to take both of their now-empty mugs to the sink.
He chuckles, walking back to her and giving her a side-hug, also ruffling her hair. "Don't worry about it, it's nothing, really. Now go back to your unit, catch some sleep and I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?"
This time, he gives her a full, real hug before walking her to the door, and she doesn't know nor want to know how red her cheeks have gotten.
"See you in a few hours."
